Happy Back to the Future day!

I picked up today;s USA Today. (important that it's today's paper and not yesterdays)

Yeah, saw that earlier on their webpage... so Marty failed? :guffaw:

I see that you put in a link dave.

That was pretty good. They really were in character and Michael J. Fox is looking good as Marty McFly 25 years on. He doesn't look like the aged Marty from the movie.

Probably not. It didn't even account for the leap year in 2000, because they arrived on a tuesday instead of a wednesday in the film. :)

Doc out-right says they're in Wednesday. Accounting for DST makes no difference, we'd be under DST under either the old or new system.
Did he? I could have sworn it was a tuesday. If so, I stand corrected. I might have mixed that up with another important day in the franchise somewhere.

Nope - we watched it the other night and he DEFINITELY says "Wednesday".

I actually exclaimed out loud, "WOW - it REALLY IS TODAY!!!"

Great trilogy, I saw them each in the theater in 1985, 1989 and 1990. Now that Wednesday October 21st 2015 has come and gone, I think it is time for a Back To The Future 4.

Nope - Thank GOD Zemeckis and Gale have said there won't be a continuation. It CLEARLY said "The End" at the end of BTTF 3 and this is one series I'd be VERY happy they leave alone as is.

I'm sure in the future (couldn't resist!) they'll reboot (once Z and G are gone), but for now, given the two main actors' ages/physical conditions, there is NO REASON to do a fourth movie.

No but I guess they thought he'd look older in some way. After all 2015 was way off in the future.
Well, to be fair:

1. They didn't anticipate the effects his not-yet-discovered condition would have on him, and

2. Michael J. Fox just might have access to some plastic surgery, physical trainers and dietitians, and other benefits that working white collar schlub Marty McFly would not have. ;)

Then again, the police officers easily accepted that the 47-year-old wife to a "white collar schlub" could get, and afford, a face lift that made her look 17. And such technology apparently exists since Doc is able to get one that makes him look 47 instead of 77.

I have to admit, I didn't really do anything to celebrate yesterday, but it's still fun to think we really are in the future now.
I'm always a little sad when these kinds of days come and go. All these movies and show predicted so much cool stuff by now, but we've barely gotten a fraction of it.

They released the first issue of the new BTTF comic miniseries from Bob Gale and IDW Publishing, so the franchise isn't totally dead. The series isn't moving things forward, instead they are doing stories set before and during the movies. The first issue features the story of how Marty and Doc first met, and Doc's involvement with the Manhattan Project. Since this is just a limited miniseries I'll probably wait for the collected edition.

I bought about six copies. I'll give a couple to my friends, read one, and keep one or two as a collector's item.

I haven't yet found Pepsi Perfect

Apparently Pepsi only produced 6500 bottles and they sold out quick. I went on their website last night and I guess due to the high demand they will start taking orders again on November 3.

Got the first issue yesterday.

As for the tech that hasn't come to pass, a lot of it is impractical or dangerous, like flying cars. The hoverboards are nice though. Then there's the stuff that movies don't anticipate like computer and media technology. In some of those cases, we have stuff more advanced than what we've seen in Star Trek.
