Had to put our cat down today.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss especially as the cat was so young.

I know that when Miss Chickengoes I will be devastated. She will be 12 this year but has always had good health so I am hoping she has a few good year left in her.

I lost a little kitten, Dexter, about 3 years ago. By lost I mean he went missing. I don't know how he managed to get out of the house. I searched for him for weeks. I still miss him terribly.

Oh, dear, four years old was too young, and such a beautiful cat, too. Losing a pet is always so hard. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thanks for sharing the pix with us Nerdius and the humorous anecdotes as well. The bra story is quite funny, I can picture that in my mind.

He was a handsome fellow. It truly is amazing how they can become a part of us and make us love them so much.

Yes it is terribly sad when we have to put a pet to sleep.

i feel so sorry for you
I had a dog called Tess and she had cancer of the stomach and we had to put her down last year.

We were all in the vets surgery while he did it.

I'm deeply saddened by your loss, Nerdius . My wife and I have two cats, and I can't imagine our home without them. You have our sympathies.

All the best,

Z

His sister's been sitting in the window waiting for him, looking all over the house. I don't think the dogs realize he's gone, which is weird, because they were much closer to him than our other cat. I think he actually thought of them as his pets.

Yes, pug tails uncurl when they sleep, lol.

Aww, I'm so sorry for your loss. :( 4 years is too young, and these pictures look so adorable.

I'm very sorry for your loss. As a fellow animal lover, I understand how hard it can be. I've had to put down a few over the years. It's never easy. Take care and try to only think of the good aspects of your cat. I'm sure there were quite a few.

Yeah, it's always hard. Last time I had to do this we had no other pets. This time we have three, so they've been a huge comfort. Still feels wrong, though. He was so much a part of our lives. He was a real "people" cat who loved attention from both us and strangers alike. He was quite a showoff. And the house is so much quieter without his constant meowing. He was a big talker. I used to have "conversations" with him. He'd come up and meow, and I'd say something, he'd meow back, and so on. He was such a sweet little guy.

I'm very sorry, Nerdius Maximus. Though I can't speak from personal experience, I know that the loss of a beloved pet can be as excruciating and as painful -- sometimes moreso-- than losing a human family member. I've only recently begun to become a cat person so this makes it all the more saddening for me to read. Your kitty was adorable.

Aww, sounds like our Comet. Like 005, I've only recently become a cat person myself (more like a Comet-person, actually) and I can't imagine life without my little chatterbox of a kitty. Complaining at me when I've been gone too long, or when he wants the window opened, etc. Silly little things, aren't they?

I'll have to pay special attention to our other cat, Gracie, because her playmate is gone. She hates the dogs, so I'm going to have to make sure she gets enough stimulation. She's one of those cats that only likes HER people and hides from everyone else. But she's a real sweetie once you earn her trust.

Sorry :(

I still maintain that losing a pet is just as awful, if not worse, than losing a human.
