Spoilers Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Grading & Discussion

Here's the thing - as I recall ( and this is going back to when I was reading comics in the 60ies, 70ies and 80ies); Mantis first appeased in the Avengers as Swordsman's sidekick and was originally an Earthling (Half-Vietnamese and German) and was an amazing martial artist. As a child she was part of a Vietnamese sect that worship the Kree and the whole deal of her becoming the Celestial Madonna was after she was kidnapped by Kang the Conqueror.

My point: She didn't start out with known Celestial powers (and also WASN'T an alien) - and if they want to take and 'grow' the character into the 'Celestial Madonna' aspect, they still can.

Bought the DVD last night. It was good,excellent sound track, many of my favourite bands.

Best line: I do have famously large turds.

I'd like to see more of these characters and adventures.

Saw it for the third time last night, first time on DVD. Still loved it. Lovable characters in an exciting, fun and emotional adventure.

I don't know. After watching it on DVD recently, I wasn't as impressed by it as I was when I saw it for the first time. My sister felt the same.

It's been the other way around for me. Every time I've seen it, my opinion has gone up. Its thematically ambitious (and thematically coherent) in ways that put up there with movies like The Dark Knight or Empire Strikes Back, or golden age Pixar. That's rare.

C+, whereas the original, was A grade entertainment.

Generally, when we think of character development, it's a good thing. Not so here, where the movie had an odd pacing as they stopped the flow in a disjointed fashion to shoehorn it in.

It really seemed like they forgot what made the first movie work.. and they just threw in whatever they could to see if they could make one bit work. Too many ideas, not enough focus like the first movie.

Somehow, 16 (yes 16) FX companies made CGI that was inferior to the first movie.

Well, t's colorful and there were some good bits, but I'm glad I didn't see it in a movie theater.

Having listened to the director's commentry for the second movie, I have utmost confidence that he will grow Mantis' character although I suspect her mental rather than her physical abilities will be developed as a counterpoint to Drax.

I watched this film the other day and really enjoyed it. I gave it an A. It had good character growth and development balanced with adventure, something a lot of recent Hollywood films are failing or just not bothering to do, so this was a nice change to the multiple camera angles, explosions, lens flares and loud noises and incoherent plots that have been churned out.

I watched this film the other day and really enjoyed it. I gave it an A. It had good character growth and development balanced with adventure, something a lot of recent Hollywood films are failing or just not bothering to do, so this was a nice change to the multiple camera angles, explosions, lens flares and loud noises and incoherent plots that have been churned out.

I think Groot had the most character growth. About 3 feet?

Something I was thinking about. If you look at the Milano bow on from below--it really should be a PREDATOR ship.

I want to see Klingon type Hex ships.

I think some comic had some Jem Hadar ship...
