10. Timebomb - The Old 97's
The entire "album" is streaming online, on sites like YouTube.

James Gunn has a good taste, but I guess we alread knew that.;)

The soundtrack (Awesome Mix Vol. 1) is currently available for free on Google Play! I'm glad I never got around to purchasing it. :techman:

I just spent two hours waiting in line for a record store to open so I could get a copy of "Awesome Mix Vol.1" on an actual cassette tape for $10. The store only had five copies, and they were sold out within ten minutes! The friend I went with said that he's already seen it on eBay for $40!

How do you even play cassettes these days? No one I know even has a tape player in their car anymore. I have an old tape from my friend's amateur band in college that just sits on a shelf because there's no working tape player in the house.

Old news, I know, but I just saw the film Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday. I enjoyed it very much. One of the better Marvel films. Not as good as the original Thor, Avengers or Ang Lee's Hulk, but I did find it to be better than the Spiderman reboots, Ed Norton's Hulk and the Wolverine films. Also, different from the pack as appearing to be solely designed for a good time. A nice change up. On the downside, the acting was okay, not great, and my favorite character was a mutated CGI raccoon. Saldana is a sexy woman to the extreme, but a light weight in terms of acting ability. Anyway, I do recommend this film. Probably a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.

To each his, own, I guess. I rate it higher than Thor. personally.

Again, a matter of taste, GotG edges out Avengers, just slightly, in my book.

or Ang Lee's Hulk,
:wtf:

Agreed, on all counts here! :techman:http://www.trekbbs.com//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/

You people just make me sick. Truly.

It's amazing how racists really have no clue that they are, in fact, racists.

"It's okay to hate white people and demand their roles be taken over by other races. Everyone believes that, so that makes it okay! Yay!"

Disgusting mindsets.
Seriously?

I'm not demanding anything, just saying if it happens I'm okay with it as the roles aren't defined by race.

Explain to me why Tony Stark needs to be white to be Iron Man.

Why? My main reason is because that's what the original character(istics) of Tony were in the comic that we grew up with. Same as the other Superheroes. Had Tony been black, Chineese, Hispanic from the get go, Fine.... But he wasn't. I'm still waiting to find out how they're going to explain Sue and Johnny Storm. Except for PC casting gone wild.

Your argument is not especially compelling. The bulk of viewers (TV or film) have not read any comics and are blissfully unaware of the "original" characteristics of the various characters. Iris West is black in the TV version of The Flash. Makes no practical difference as nothing about her character requires she be white. Same applies to Tony Stark, Peter Parker or even Barry Allen (or Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent for that matter). The films and TV shows are adaptations, and thus not bound to be identical to the source material. Perhaps if they were set in the time periods in which the characters first appeared there would be compelling arguments about wealthy characters like Stark and Wayne, as their wealth is essential to their characters and, sadly, no blacks were that wealthy, or even likely imagined they could be that wealthy, in those respective periods (though more so for Wayne than Stark). Even then, as these things are fantasy, I'd have no issue with a black Wayne or Stark.

If there was something essential to any of these characters that required a specific ethnicity or skin colour, that would be different. Otherwise, the sky's the limit, as it should be.

I think you can get them on e-bay.

Bizarrely enough, the Police Service of Northern Ireland still record police interviews with suspects on tape. So lawyers here are constantly having to hunt out old tape recorders/players to listen to tapes, if the prosecution merely provide them with copy tapes as oppose to transcripts of interviews with their clients. I'd imagine there are numerous instances of decades-old tape decks chewing up the evidence!

Glad that I still have one of the old radio/CD/tape-player combo devices at home, then...and I wonder about "porting" of audio recordings to either AIFF, MP3 or some other format(s) becoming standard evidence-preservation practice.

So? The movies are adaptations. Not high fidelity transfers.

Geez. I just saw this film last night, and loved every minute of it. It had heart, humour, and had me engaged from start to finish. Today, I thought I'd pop in here and see what other people thought, and this is the thread I found.

Only on this board could people take a thread about one of the most fun films in years, and turn it into a bitchfest about racism and political correctness.

Well done, TrekBBS. You've outdone yourself. [insert slow-clap here]

Well, to be fair, we've all seen the movie months ago. it's not our fault you have arrived to the party late, when perhaps we stopped going SQUEE and moved on to something else.

That's right, that's exactly what is. A bitchfest. :roll eyes:

Had I arrived at the same time as the rest of you, I'd have come to the same conclusion.

What's interesting, though, is the fact that once the "squeeing" had stopped, the thing you moved on to was bitching at each other about White Guilt and ethnic minorities.

That's right, that's exactly what is. A bitchfest. :roll eyes:

You're going to try and tell me that what I just read was a debate? I had to check I wasn't in TNZ a couple of times.
