I don't think I've ever thought about the fact that Drax is cleaning a knife before.

Finally saw this for the first time on pay-per-view tonight.

Just a terrific, fun film. Fantastic!

It's like Firefly/Serenity light. And I mean that as a compliment.

And just for the record, in the version I just watched (finished 5 minutes ago), he turned once.

Solid "A".

Can't wait for the sequel.

:techman:

My question is, will they invent a new backstory to Quills father or somehow work in the 'actual' one. From what I recall in the comics his father does not even know he exists and didn't try to kidnap him off Earth.

There is a line in the film about him meant to have been delivered to his father, but they didn't, implying his father is actively looking for him.

They stated they're changing who the father is too, fwiw. I hope J'son of Spartax does appear regardless, though.

James Gunn has nixed a crossover with the Avengers, but I don't think it's his call to make. This from Comingsoon's site.

With Josh Brolin recently telling us to expect “Thanos against everyone,” a lot of fans were hoping this would mean a full-on Guardians of the Galaxy/Avengers crossover come Avengers: Infinity War, but as James Gunn explained to Screen Junkies, a two-team team-up isn’t likely.
“[We're] trying to make [Avengers] effect it as little as possible,” said Guardians helmer Gunn when asked how much the dark tone of Avengers: Age of Ultron would effect Guardians of the Galaxy 2. “We really are separate from the Avengers, and I don’t think people should assume too many things about the Guardians play in all this. We have our own galaxy to take care of. We have our own galaxy to save. Earth is the Avengers’ province. Thinking that everything is going to come together in a perfect way is not necessarily the way it’s gonna happen.”

While it may have been an idea at one point to have a massive team-up, the quirky comedic sensibility of Guardians makes it an odd juxtaposition with the rest of the MCU. If the first film was any indication, we would definitely say Dave Bautista’s Drax and Brolin’s Thanos are on a collision course–not to mention some unresolved issues between the Mad Titan and his adopted daughter Gamora (Zoe Saldana)–yet that may not affect the two Infinity War films any more than the battle of New York in Avengers affected Guardians (pretty much nil). Infinity stones have been the McGuffin that ties all of Marvel’s films together, but the success of Gunn’s vision proves he doesn’t need Captain America or Iron Man to get butts in the seats.

It's not his call, but he might be privy to additional information. He could be trying to temper enthusiasm.

There is no way the Guardians are not in Avengers 3/4. I thought this had already been confirmed?

Yeah, his quote is about how Avengers 2 affects Guardians 2, not that they will never ever cross over.

They will be in Avengers 3/4. It's the story this has all been leading to.

Yeah, the part about "Earth is the Avengers' province" - when the Infinity Gauntlet is involved the stakes are bigger.

Well I certainly want to see the Guardians in the Infinity War two parter, but I don't think that's been confirmed yet.

I could have sworn they said it in that big press conference when they unveiled the next decade of Marvel Movies.
