Green Hornet-Seth Rogan-summer 2010

This is going to be stupid.

Seth is a funny guy so it's not that I dislike him, I just don't think he fits this role at all.

I am love with Jet Li so if they cast him, seats will be wet.

Ain't seen him lately have you? The man has trimmed up pretty nicely in preparation for playing something that isn't just a comedic slob. If he can pull off the acting is a question, but I'm willing to give him a shot. His biggest hurdle will be his kind of. . . how you say "mouth-of-marbles"-ish voice I think.

The "name" actor for Kato would obviously be Jet Li.

He already played Kato

Remember back when George Clooney and later Greg Kinnear were attached to Green Hornet?

What does Rogan's weight have to do with anything? I know what he looks like now, I pay plenty of attention to Hollywood. I just don't get how his weight has to do with anything when it's his comedic personality that doesn't really fit the role. It's hard to take someone seriously in a serious role when they do a lot of comedy.

Thank you for making my morning with that picture <3

OOOkay, tell that to Tom Hanks and Will Smith just to name two actors who were solely and only known for comedy and now...well they are the biggest things in Hollywood. Causes me to question just 'how closely you follow Hollywood' when you make a statement like that.

To be clear Green Hornet isn't nearly the same as Philadelphia or Six Degrees of Separation. He, Rogan, really only needs to show some range beyond pure comedic the whole time he is on screen.

I think it's oviously they will be going for comedy. I mean they orignally wanted Kevin Smith to do the movie and then they turn to Seth Rogan. They keep going for people who do comedies or at least movies with alot of humor.

You know, that was the same argument people used back in 1989 before the Tim Burton BATMAN came out. A Batman movie from the director of BEETlLEJUICE and PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE? Starring MR. MOM?

Obviously, the movie was going to be a comedy . . . .

I watch Will Smith and can't always take him seriously. I just keep thinking of the Fresh Prince whenever I see him. Sometimes, he can pull it off, but I find that to be very rare. Tom Hanks is the kind of actor who can do anything and make it work. Poor example, imo. Some actors can make it happen doing all kinds of roles, some can't. Maybe Seth can pull it off but to me, he's always going to be the funny, goofy guy.

Honestly, your point isn't really valid. I know how big these guys are in Hollywood and my comment was merely an opinion of how I personally see these guys. I didn't state it as a fact at all, it was just my own perception of them. Paying attention to Hollywood and how big these guys are has nothing at all to do with personal opinions of an actor. Miley Cyrus is a huge star, are you going to tell me she has talent now? I certainly hope not.

^^^^^
Kirk your point was, and I quote: "... it's his comedic personality that doesn't really fit the role. It's hard to take someone seriously in a serious role when they do a lot of comedy."

My examples couldn't be more valid.
Are you telling me that Tom Hanks of Bossum Buddies TV fame, The Money Pit, Dragnet, Turner & Hooch or Joe vs The Volcano had a resume that screamed: I'm ready to tackle the role of an HIV infected lawyer in a dramatic role. Really now?
Before Tom Hanks showed he could do more he wasn't seen by Hollywood as that, as you say: "the kind of actor who can do anything and make it work."

There is a big reason his filmography is loaded with nearly all comedic fare until Philadelphia. You either don't know his filmography or have forgotten it him as an example is very fair and valid. Same for Smith but you fess up to his Fresh Prince background. Not like that screamed, 'give me a chance at meaty drama work' either. Yet a director did that for both Smith and Hanks.

Likewise Seth Rogan is being asked to take a role, as we currently know it, and do more than just comedy with it. Green Hornet isn't going to be Philadelphia or Six Degrees but it does have a chance to let Rogan show he either can or can't do some dramatic work.

Nicolas Cage is in talks to play the lead gangster villain in the Green Hornet movie.
Columbia Pictures is in early talks with Nicolas Cage to play the gangster villain in The Green Hornet, reports Variety.
Cameron Diaz is negotiating to play a reporter and love interest in the Michel Gondry-directed film that stars Seth Rogen as the masked crime fighter.
The picture is moving full steam ahead for a fall start date, even as the studio looks to replace Stephen Chow, who was going to play sidekick Kato. Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the script and Neal Moritz is producing through his Original Films.

Well the movie will not lack "known names" should Cage take the part.
What I find most reassuring is that despite not having replaced Kato yet "the picture is moving full steam ahead".

Is Jet Li doing anything right now? The Expendables already wrapped.

Maybe Russell Wong can get another shot at a big studio movie. Kato doesn't need to be a name actor if they get Cage and Diaz.

The Green Hornet's Black Beauty (a modified 1965 Chrysler Crown Imperial)has been unveiled at Comic Con this year.
Comic-Con International has barely begun and already things are happening on the exhibition floor as Seth Rogen made a special appearance to unveil The Green Hornet's Black Beauty car, along with director Michel Gondry, producer Neil Moritz and co-writer Evan Goldberg. After the big reveal, Rogen did a bunch of interviews and was asked about the recent announcement that Nicolas Cage might have a role in the movie.
Rogen said that it wasn't final yet but that Cage would indeed play one of the movie's villains. "It's not 100% closed yet by any means, but we've been talking to him and he seems enthusiastic and we're great fans of his obviously, so it's exciting that it could possibly happen. He would be one of the villains so that's all I can say."

Battlestar Galactica fans you now have a reason to be curious about this project if you were indifferent before.

Edward James Olmos has been added to the cast of Green Hornet. Role TBA.
Hollywood Snitch learned from "Battlestar Galactica" star Edward James Olmos this weekend that he has landed a role in Columbia Pictures' The Green Hornet. The site reports:
I spoke with actor Edward James Olmos yesterday at Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con. Among discussing his past ("Blade Runner") and present ("Battlestar Galactica" and the upcoming TV film), he dropped he said of his future plans that he will be joining Michel Gondry's "The Green Hornet."
"I'm on my way to do 'The Green Hornet,'" Olmos told me. "It'll be a lot of fun with Seth [Rogen], Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz."
There's no word yet on what role he might play. The studio announced on Friday that Jay Chou will play Kato in the July 9, 2010 release. Michel Gondry direct

Not to get lost in the Olmos anouncement but Kato has been cast as well.
Kato is to be played by Jay Chou whose US movie credits are very little at this point. He apparently is also a singer and is doing crossovers into film.

Re: Green Hornet-Seth Rogan-Christmas 2010

Green Hornet has been pushed back to Christmas 2010 now instead of its prior summer slot.
In a surprise move over the weekend, Sony Pictures has pulled the superhero comedy "The Green Hornet" out of mid-Summer 2010 release and pushed it back to the week before Christmas next year - a full five month delay.
Originally scheduled for July 7th, the Seth Rogen-led and Michel Gondry-directed tentpole will now bow on December 17th 2010. The film takes over the slot put aside for Sony's CG and live-action combination take on the classic cartoon "The Smurfs" which itself will likely be pushed into 2011.
Filming hasn't yet begun on 'Hornet' and no official reason was given, though Rogen himself told HitFix that he was relieved about the delay as it gives the filmmakers a lot "more time to finish and promote the movie".
The delay also means the film will likely see a huge push at next year's San Diego Comic Con in late July.

Can't say I'm surprised seeing as how the project has had its director/co-star(Kato) shaken up. Recasting and rehiring has for sure caused the delays.

I was shocked to see a full-sized Black Beauty (the Green Hornet's car) at Comic-Con this year. I didn't know that any designs had been developed for the film.

Re: Green Hornet-Seth Rogan-Christmas 2010

Today word comes that production has begun on Green Hornet. I was worried that perhaps the pushed back release date meant a delayed start.

A classic character of film, television, radio and comic books returns to the big screen in Columbia Pictures' feature film The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen as the vigilante crime-fighter. Production is underway on the Michel Gondry-helmed film, which is produced by Neal H. Moritz (I Am Legend, The Fast and the Furious) and executive produced by Michael Grillo (The Accidental Tourist), Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (Superbad, Pineapple Express), Ori Marmur (Evan Almighty) and George W. Trendle, Jr. The screenplay is by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, based upon "The Green Hornet" radio series created by George W. Trendle and shoots entirely in Los Angeles. The film is set for release December 17, 2010.
In addition to Rogen, the film also stars Taiwanese actor-pop star Jay Chou as Kato, Cameron Diaz, Edward James Olmos ("Battlestar Galactica"), David Harbour (Revolutionary Road) and Tom Wilkinson (Valkyrie). Nicolas Cage is also in negotiations to appear in the film. Academy Award®-nominee John Schwartzman (Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian) is the director of photography. Production designer is Owen Paterson (The Matrix Revolutions), Kym Barrett (Speed Racer) serves as costume designer and Michael Tronick (Mr. & Mrs. Smith) is editing.

I was thinking it possible that the talk of moving it allowed for greater promotion and post work was just talk. A way of glossing over that things might not happen on this film. Seems it was valid at face value.

Can't wait to see the first on set leaked photos!!

Re: Green Hornet-Seth Rogan-Christmas 2010

The first on set spy photos from production of Green Hornet have emerged. Among them are the stunt double of Kato in costume.
We received a first look at a stunt double for Jay Chou in costume as Kato on the Los Angeles set of The Green Hornet, as well as photos of Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Chou in action! Directed by Michel Gondry, the comic book adaptation also star Nicolas Cage, Edward James Olmos, David Harbour and Tom Wilkinson. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2010.
