The "name" actor for Kato would obviously be Jet Li. I wonder if they'd be willing to give Donnie Yen a shot.
Or McLovin...
Actually, Jet Li would be cool, and I think it could be a decently high-profile project for him.

Ain't seen him lately have you? The man has trimmed up pretty nicely in preparation for playing something that isn't just a comedic slob. If he can pull off the acting is a question, but I'm willing to give him a shot. His biggest hurdle will be his kind of. . . how you say "mouth-of-marbles"-ish voice I think. This is going to be stupid.
Seth is a funny guy so it's not that I dislike him, I just don't think he fits this role at all.
I am love with Jet Li so if they cast him, seats will be wet.

What does Rogan's weight have to do with anything? I know what he looks like now, I pay plenty of attention to Hollywood. I just don't get how his weight has to do with anything when it's his comedic personality that doesn't really fit the role. It's hard to take someone seriously in a serious role when they do a lot of comedy.
I think it's oviously they will be going for comedy. I mean they orignally wanted Kevin Smith to do the movie and then they turn to Seth Rogan. They keep going for people who do comedies or at least movies with alot of humor.

OOOkay, tell that to Tom Hanks and Will Smith just to name two actors who were solely and only known for comedy and now...well they are the biggest things in Hollywood. Causes me to question just 'how closely you follow Hollywood' when you make a statement like that.
To be clear Green Hornet isn't nearly the same as Philadelphia or Six Degrees of Separation. He, Rogan, really only needs to show some range beyond pure comedic the whole time he is on screen.
Columbia Pictures is in early talks with Nicolas Cage to play the gangster villain in The Green Hornet, reports Variety.
Cameron Diaz is negotiating to play a reporter and love interest in the Michel Gondry-directed film that stars Seth Rogen as the masked crime fighter.
The picture is moving full steam ahead for a fall start date, even as the studio looks to replace Stephen Chow, who was going to play sidekick Kato. Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the script and Neal Moritz is producing through his Original Films.
Comic-Con International has barely begun and already things are happening on the exhibition floor as Seth Rogen made a special appearance to unveil The Green Hornet's Black Beauty car, along with director Michel Gondry, producer Neil Moritz and co-writer Evan Goldberg. After the big reveal, Rogen did a bunch of interviews and was asked about the recent announcement that Nicolas Cage might have a role in the movie.
Rogen said that it wasn't final yet but that Cage would indeed play one of the movie's villains. "It's not 100% closed yet by any means, but we've been talking to him and he seems enthusiastic and we're great fans of his obviously, so it's exciting that it could possibly happen. He would be one of the villains so that's all I can say."
Hollywood Snitch learned from "Battlestar Galactica" star Edward James Olmosthis weekend that he has landed a role in Columbia Pictures' The Green Hornet. The site reports:
I spoke with actor Edward James Olmos yesterday at Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con. Among discussing his past ("Blade Runner") and present ("Battlestar Galactica" and the upcoming TV film), he dropped he said of his future plans that he will be joining Michel Gondry's "The Green Hornet."
"I'm on my way to do 'The Green Hornet,'" Olmos told me. "It'll be a lot of fun with Seth [Rogen], Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz."
There's no word yet on what role he might play. The studio announced on Friday that Jay Chou will play Kato in the July 9, 2010 release. Michel Gondry direct
In a surprise move over the weekend, Sony Pictures has pulled the superhero comedy "The Green Hornet" out of mid-Summer 2010 release and pushed it back to the week before Christmas next year - a full five month delay.
Originally scheduled for July 7th, the Seth Rogen-led and Michel Gondry-directed tentpole will now bow on December 17th 2010. The film takes over the slot put aside for Sony's CG and live-action combination take on the classic cartoon "The Smurfs" which itself will likely be pushed into 2011.
Filming hasn't yet begun on 'Hornet' and no official reason was given, though Rogen himself told HitFix that he was relieved about the delay as it gives the filmmakers a lot "more time to finish and promote the movie".
The delay also means the film will likely see a huge push at next year's San Diego Comic Con in late July.
A classic character of film, television, radio and comic books returns to the big screen in Columbia Pictures' feature film The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen as the vigilante crime-fighter. Production is underway on the Michel Gondry-helmed film, which is produced by Neal H. Moritz (I Am Legend, The Fast and the Furious) and executive produced by Michael Grillo (The Accidental Tourist), Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (Superbad, Pineapple Express), Ori Marmur (Evan Almighty) and George W. Trendle, Jr. The screenplay is by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, based upon "The Green Hornet" radio series created by George W. Trendle and shoots entirely in Los Angeles. The film is set for release December 17, 2010.
In addition to Rogen, the film also stars Taiwanese actor-pop star Jay Chou as Kato, Cameron Diaz, Edward James Olmos ("Battlestar Galactica"), David Harbour (Revolutionary Road) and Tom Wilkinson (Valkyrie). Nicolas Cage is also in negotiations to appear in the film. Academy Award®-nominee John Schwartzman (Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian) is the director of photography. Production designer is Owen Paterson (The Matrix Revolutions), Kym Barrett (Speed Racer) serves as costume designer and Michael Tronick (Mr. & Mrs. Smith) is editing.
We received a first look at a stunt double for Jay Chou in costume as Kato on the Los Angeles set of The Green Hornet, as well as photos of Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Chou in action! Directed by Michel Gondry, the comic book adaptation also star Nicolas Cage, Edward James Olmos, David Harbour and Tom Wilkinson. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2010.
