Greatest Character Entrances and Exits

Lol - I'd agree with all the above - I love Trinity's entrance in Matrix too. And how about Spock's death in TWok for an exit?

Death's exit in The Meaning of Life. Along with the dinner party attendees.

"But I didn't eat the fish..."

I rather liked Professor McGonagall's first appearance in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone...

In "Transformers", the reveal of the Autobots driving into the alley and then transforming was amazing. When I saw that scene, I literally felt like a 9 year old kid again watching the original series. No cynical eye of an adult collector, not a fan who had seen dozens upon dozens of episodes of the series. It was like I was seeing Transformers again for the first time ever and it was breathtaking.

And while not a sentient character, I have to say that the "reveal" of the Enterprise-A in ST4 lives on as one of my favorite "introductions" ever. I saw the movie in a gigantic theater back in the day and when the ship came onto the screen, there must have been about 300+ Trek fans on their feet screaming, cheering, clapping. It's one of my happiest Trek memories. :)

Jetfire, Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen. :borg:

By the way...YES!!! Rita Hayworth in Gilda...Best ever, Period! :D

Actually I also enjoyed Superman's entrance in SR...BR running down the street then opens the shirt to reveal the \S/...then all the plane stuff. :bolian:

That was a great reveal.

As for character entrances, one that has yet to be mentioned is Aragorn (as Strider) in Fellowship of the Ring. It was *exactly* as I had envisioned it.

Darkman walking off into the crowd at the end of the movie... as Bruce Campbell... was a pretty cool cameo.

Aeryn Sun's introduction in Farscape's pilot, asking for John's name, rank and regiment after kicking his butt.

Scorpius in "Nerve". Emerging from the shadows of the bar, the "evil Spock" we'd heard so many rumours about.

Azula's (official) introduction in Avatar: The Last Airbender, the last thing we see in Book One.

This probably won't count, but Bartlett's entrance in The West Wing.

Reverend Caldwell is complaining that he's "hearing a lot from the White House about the First Commandment:" Honour thy father
Toby Zeigler takes umbrage: "[speaking first to Hosh Lyman] If I'm going to make to sit through this preposterous exercise, we're going to at least get the numbers of the damn commandments right: Honour thy father is the Third Commandment"
Caldwell "then what's the First Commandment?"
Bartlett enters "I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt worship no other God but I [he chuckles] Boy, those were the days"

That's all great stuff, but my favorite part of the sequence is from Lois Lane's perspective when she first sees this blur outside the airplane window and makes the impossible realization that Superman has returned.

I'm rather fond of Spike's entrance in the BtVS episode School Hard.

And then they recreate it when he returns to Sunnydale in "Lover's Walk," only this time he's a drunken loser who can barely stand.

While it's far from the character's final exit, I'd like to mention Angel's initial exit through the alley at the end of the opening teaser of "City Of." It's such a badass shot that they used it for the last shot of the opening credits for all 5 seasons of Angel.

Burton's Batman may not be aging well, but the opening scene with Bats taking out the baddies one by one has stayed with me through the years. That first scene with the Joker coming out of the shadows was pretty good, too.

The build up to the Joker is great, particularly with the early hints we get of it: the discolored hand rising up from the water, the dimly lit scene in the plastic surgeon's office.

In some ways, the introduction of Bruce Wayne is even more interesting because of how low key it is, in stark contrast to the heavy mystery of Batman's introduction. Bruce's introduction is kinda deliberately thrown away:
"Excuse me? Could you tell me which of these guys is Bruce Wayne?"
"I'm not really sure."

Definitely. I saw a preview of that scene at I-Con a few months before the movie opened. It gave me chills.

"You can call me . . . Joker."

Peter Cushing has a memorable entrance in BRIDES OF DRACULA. A bunch of terrified Transylvanian villagers cower in fear, while the town priest waits anxiously for the one man who might be able to help them.

Enter Cushing as Dr. Van Helsing.

"Thank God you've come!"

The Ninth Doctor grabbing Rose's hand and pulling her away from the evil possessed mannequins was pretty cool, as was his line a few minutes later, "Nice to meet you, Rose. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!"

Oh, that's a good one. I think you and I have similar tastes where horror's concerned.
