I rented One Missed Call the other night and by the end i was just PISSED!! I was really looking forward to the movie because I thought the trailer was damn good and got me excited for the movie and then.. got complete and utter shite. :scream:

What movie(s) were like that for you?

I actually really liked One Missed Call, even though I thought the previews looked bad.

I thought that the previews for The Brothers Solomon were much better than the actual movie was.

As a rule, I tend to stay away from anything with Bob Odenkirk's name on it.

My girlfriend started to have a severe asthma attack and had to leave halfway through Good luck Chuck. it upset her that we had to leave, but I was just wishing that it would have happened a week later while watching Brothers Solomon. Still haven't seen the end of Good Luck Chuck though.

Jumper had a couple of really exciting trailers but the movie itself was a terrible mess. Apparently, jumping around every few seconds wasn't just their on-screen gimmick, it was their mantra for writing the screenplay as well. I can't really think of anything else where the contrast between trailer & film was this pronounced.

Star Trek Nemesis. I'd seen the script, I had a baaaaad feeling about the movie, but then they went and whipped up a trailer that made it all look pretty compelling.

Then they cut most of the stuff that was in the trailer out of the finished film and it sucked again. (It didn't help that the trailer rearranged some dialogue into an order that was more effective than in the movie. "I'm a mirror for you as well/Don't be so vain" comes to mind.)

For the most part, the point of the trailer is to make the movie look good, so a lot of crappy movies have good trailers... although I don't think anything short of naked shots of Jessica Alba could make the upcoming The Guru look good.

Speaking of which, Alba's movie Good Luck Chuck, the first trailer had the actual premise (everyone he sleeps with finds the love of their lives and gets married), but later trailers and all the TV ads made it seem like a slapstick comedy about a guy falling for a total klutz, even going so far as to say the title to make it sound like "Good Luck, Chuck."

I always thought Superman IV: The Quest for Peace had a pretty decent trailer that managed to hide all the movies extreme flaws quite well.

Yeah. I loved that exchange in the trailer. It often inspired me to sing...

You're so vain,
You prob'ly think this movie's about you...:p

Yeah, the trailers I saw had me really excited for the movie (I'm not going to pile on hate for the movie, plenty of people to do that already, but they were definitely far more exciting).
