I just wasn't getting what you meant.

As much as DS9 was the best Star Trek, an openly gay man interacting with the overwhelmingly "no homo" energy of Bashir and O'Brien is difficult for me to fathom. Maybe it's cause I came of age in the 1990s...

The trick is to just read every Bashir/O'Brien interaction as openly gay behind a thin veil of irony intentionally poking fun at "no homo" energy
