Good time travel movies?

"Somewhere in Time" seems to be quite popular with some folks. "Time After Time" is also pretty fun. I love "Time Bandits".

"Time After Time" is definitely a favorite and it's directed by Nicholas Meyer from Star Trek II. Also one of my favorites is "Grand Tour: Disaster in Time" with Jeff Daniels.

Let's see what else is there.

The Voyage Home
The Philadelphia Experiment (The 1st one is passable, the 2nd not so much)
Flight of The Navigator
Time Bandits

Primer is a total mind-scrambler. They actually made diagrams to help explain it.

The Terminator movies?

I didn't think the remake of The Time Machine (Guy Pearce) was as bad as everyone else apparently did.

12 Monkeys is probably my favorite of the genre.

J Allen posted most of the best ones...

The original TimeCop with Jean Claude Van Damm is pretty good... the second isn't as good, but still worth a watch for the hilarious nazi scenes...

There's always a ton of good TV shows based around time travel...

Quantum Leap - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XBwWAu2a5U
Continuum - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=1L-aR0NaU1E
Doctor Who - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNHEEZ_I74U
Time Cop - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuVMNnyFTcM
Life on Mars (British version) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZOzsIhCPgs

M

And some forgetable ones such as

Crime Traveller

Time Chasers/Tangent. ;)

(I actually say that with an ounce of seriousness. It's not "that" bad a movie.)

for TV Journeyman was phenomenal, only 1 season so it's not like it's a big commitment to get into it

Primer was an amazing movie

I like how Bill and Ted is the only time travel film that I can think of that truly only has one timeline, and one version of it

Have you seen 12 Monkeys?

My all time favorites are The Terminator and Back to the Future.

Why aren't good time travel films still made? It seems like the last one I can remember where the time travel isn't incidental (Like in the latest Star Trek movie) is The Lake House.

Also, I never cared much for Primer. It just seemed more confusing and hyperfocusing on the time travel rather than actually trying to tell an engaging story with good characters.

It's already been mentioned, but Frequently Asked Questions about Timetravel is about two years old and Anna Farris rocked that with her cock out.

Meanwhile it's not completely out yet, but some people have seen Aubrey Plaza and friends mess it up in Saftey not guaranteed... OH! look, that's got Chloey from 24 in it too.

Have you seen 12 Monkeys?
yeah it's a time loop.. so yeah it also qualifies.. but it's also deadly dull because no one can actually change anything... whereas Bill and Ted they can change things but the writers still made it play into one time line!

I think it is somewhat disappointing when they can't change things, but it's also fun to see when they think they can change things and they never can or end up just creating what they set out to prevent.

Check out Time Rider for some cheesy time traveling fun with a motorcyclist in the old west.

Time After Time's a good one that hasn't been mentioned yet. The George Pal Time Machine is damn good as well.

Time After Time hasn't been mentioned yet? Wow.

That's a great one, although a lot of people mix it up with Somewhere in Time which came out around the same, er, time.

"Time After Time" is definitely a favorite and it's directed by Nicholas Meyer from Star Trek II.

Plus, its stars include Malcolm McDowell (Star Trek: Generations), David Warner (Star Trek V, Star Trek VI), and Mary Steenburgen (Back to the Future, Part III).

The Terminator & the Back to the Future trilogy are my all-time favorite time travel movies. Actually, Part II is my favorite BTTF movie. I love all the paradoxes, the way it goes inside the first movie, and the quick pacing of the whole affair. Plus, it has one of the most awesome movie cliffhangers of all time.

Then there was this really good one that I saw at a film festival a few years ago. It's about this guy that's experimenting with time travel in his basement and keeps traveling back to this one party over & over again. However, he can only stay for 11 minutes before needing to return to his own time. But he keeps arriving in the wrong order. So when he first arrives, everyone else already knows who he is. It's very timey-wimey.
