Fantastic news! I can't wait to see more of Phoebe (assuming she'll be in it).
Yeah, that's great news, Afterlife was pretty good. It will be interesting to see if they bring any of the original cast again, I could see it going either way. Afterlife was a nice handoff from the older generation to the younger, but at the same time I could see wanting to keep at least one or two of the original guys around, since they're such a big part of the franchise. With the way Aftelife ended I could see Winston showing up for a scene or two as the Ghostbusters' boss back in NYC, or maybe they call Ray to pick his brain about their new supernatural baddie.
Winston and maybe Janine (always more Annie Potts please!) are the only ones I'd expect.
^I wouldn't be surprised to see Ackroyd. Murray/Weaver are the least likely let's be honest.
Anyway late to the party but I only recently managed to see this and have to say I really enjoyed it. I can see the arguments for fan service and nostalgia porn but I just really liked it, and thankfully it was more Ghostbusters and less Stranger Things than the trailer had led me to expect.

Ray, Winston and Janine are a lock, hopefully Louis this time. I was pretty sure we were done with Venkman once and for all before this last week's revelations about Bill Murray, twice as sure now.
As for the new kids, Phoebe is a must, her brother too. Podcast and the brother's girlfriend I could frankly take or leave; might be worth looking for some new rising talent to fill out the 2.0 team. With or without Gary, I fully expect to meet either Callie's mom or ex-husband in this next one, they can't leave that story half-told.

I could see Trevor working on a degree in parapsychology at Columbia while interning at Ghostbusters HQ. Maybe they could hire on Mr. Grooberson too.
Or, if they want to change cities, you could have Winston helping out a new franchisee open in New Orleans, Charleston, SC or Salem, MA. Of course, Phoebe, Trevor and Callie could show up too.
The priority on new cast is obviously Phoebe, then Podcast. After this I'm not too fussed, though I wouldn't mind seeing Callie and Mr Grooberson again. Can take or leave Trevor and Lucky.

I already said the sequel must have Phoebe but another vote for Podcast, Callie, and Mr. Grooberson. I liked Lucky so won't mind seeing her again but as much as I like Finn Wolfhard, I can go either way with Trevor.
Honestly, they're the ones I'd most like to see, as they didn't get a lot of development in the original films.
The only problem with Janine is that Annie Potts is a pretty big part of Young Sheldon, so if that's still going when this goes into production she probably won't be able to do much more than she did in Afterlife.

I'm actually interested in a sequel. I liked the movie a good deal (more then a lot of people seemed to), and its the only thing to kind of come from the success of Stranger Things that I thought ended up great, which is a lot of praise coming from me because I don't usually like live action movies (or shows) about precocious kids/teens having adventures.
I'd honestly put Afterlife as the second best Ghostbusters film after the first one, and I'm definitely up for more.

Otherwise, there is not a lot information, yet. There's not even a writer yet, and it isn't known whether the show would be a reboot, a sequel to the Real and/or Extreme Ghostbusters shows, to the movie(s), which team of characters will be the focus, or anything else.

There's clearly no shortage of affection for the old cartoon from Reitman, so it could go either way. Honestly though, I think the best approach is to spin something new off from Afterlife than try and tie it back to a decades old cartoon that the younger audience can't be expected to be familiar with.
Assuming the target audience is the younger demographic of course; personally can't see the 'MOTU: Revelations' approach working for this particular franchise.
Given the content on the official YouTube channel, I would place bets on it being the equivalent of Afterlife for the RGB. The franchise has always revelled in its different strands, and at one point, it was arguably more successful than the movies.
EGB kinda already did that though, no? Better to start fresh than needlessly confuse kids with superfluous baggage.
