Hopefully WAY better than Drive Angry, which was essentially the same movie.

I haven't been paying much attention to this, but thanks to all the people keeping us informed. Blackout as the villain, eh? Not so bad. I'm not too jazzed about a sequel, though I do hope it improves upon the original. There's a lot of potential with Ghost Rider, and I felt that Cage gave a surprisingly odd and bored performance. It seemed strange since he's such a comic book guy. Maybe he wasn't too hip on being Blaze instead of Clark Kent, but signed on just to play at least one comic book hero, or that's how I felt. Cage's performance and the lack of action hurt the film, though I though Eva Mendes and Peter Fonda were both well cast. Same with Sam Elliot.

Nice link CaptainDemotion! Good to see that the movie is getting a presence at the 'Con. If I'm not mistaken this banner is the first official piece of marketing we've seen for the movie.

Hmmm. I felt his performance was quirky and offbeat but I never would have said it seemed bored. I thought the somewhat silly concept of GR benefitted from having an unconventional leading man like Cage in the main role.

As soon as I finish reading about this movie I totally forget it's even being made.

It's like The Silents from Doctor Who.

And, unless I’m mistaken, the footage ended with a little kid asking Nic Cage what happens when he needs to pee when he’s ablaze and then we see a back shot of Ghost Rider literally pissing flame. I mean, I know my eyes saw it, but my brain is having trouble processing that actually happened.

Really? This was the type of moment in the first Transformers movie that I went, :rolleyes:
I hope this gets edited out, I don't need to see it to know it's going to be a stupid moment. A moment that will get needlessly zeroed in on and discussed outside of the movie itself.

The other mentions in that AICN piece sound alright.

Looking forward to this one. I was one of the few who thought they got the first film right and enjoyed it.

I'm actually looking forward to this movie now. A Ghost Rider movie absolutely needs to be balls deep in the ridiculous and it sounds like that's what we're gonna get.

Let me preface this by saying, I don't mind quick cut editing, but after the Crank movies and Gamer I'm not sure if I enjoy the frenetic stylings of Nevaldine and Taylor. Good lord, they're style makes Michael Bay look like Gus Van Sant. But this movie has gotta be a lot better than the almost "too polished" look of the first movie, especially for a character like Ghost Rider.

Now can somebody PLEASE make a movie about PBS's kid show from the early 90's Ghostwriter?

Interesting take for the bike. I know this is an "overthinking it" comment but might there be an internal mention about the look of the bike being different. Even some of the 90's Batman films had a one off line about the new Batmobile each time. It's not important really, just thinking out loud.

Marvel has had a few artists of late draw the cycle as more real with only supernatural highlights vs being as stylized as the first cycle.

^ Well, as I understand it, this movie will not be in the same continuity as the last and will have a different origin story. So I'd be surprised if they referenced there being a new bike.

Not so sure about that. From the way I read AICN's comic con report, this will be set a few years after the first, so still the same continuity, which makes sense, since Nicolas Cage will be in both.

When was the last time they had a reboot/new continuity for a character while havin' the same actor in the role?

That's how I understood it as well. Not saying there has to be a verbal nod to the bike change but this is more or less a mild shake up ala in Spiderman 3 having Sandman be a part of Uncle Ben's death. Same with the GR origin here, a few retcons but going forth while keeping the first movie still technically as part of the GR saga they are creating.

Maybe its something as simple as havin' a different bike, and that's what it turns into when he's Ghost Rider?
