While out promoting his newest movie Season of the Witch Cage was asked a question about Ghost Rider 2.
His comment:

I'm curious as to how much of a reinvisioning it's going to be. I'd assume it's necessary in order to fit the plot of this movie. Wonder if they'll even attempt a one or two sentence comment stating why he 'recalls his devil deal' better now, clearer.

The beginning of Army of Darkness was different than the ending of Evil Dead II, so this isn't unprecedented.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance has wrapped filming in Turkey. Due for release on February 17, 2012.

Johnny's son? First time I've seen it written that way. For the sake of the film it seems Danny is going to be Blaze's son. I wonder if the origin redux comes into play here?

I'm wondering which Marvel film we'll see the first GR:2 trailer? Is THOR too early? They'll have had 4 months of CGI work in the can by then. X-Men First Class? Showing it in front of Captain America: First Avenger in July wouldn't be bad, the film would still be 7 months away AND they could showcase a second trailer during October and/or the Holiday months reminding moviegoers the film is coming.

Will GR 2 be set in the larger Marvel Movie Universe or on it's own(even if it's just a cameo with a newspaper or TV with something about Ironman or some crazy guy with a Hammer in the background)?

The sentence is ambiguous, but I read that as the devil taking over his own son (and thus why it specifies 'mortal'), not Blaze's son.

Pretty positive that GR2 is still set apart from the greater MMU.

That's too bad,I'm not looking for GR to play a role in The Avengers it just would be a nice little touch if it was the same Universe.

Marvel doesn't own Ghost Rider as a movie property. It's like with X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spider-Man.

I thought that all changed with the Disney takeover of Marvel.

no, all that changed there was that Disney bought the rights to distribute Avengers and (IIRC) Cap America from Paramount.

Punisher's back with Marvel because the rights reverted. IIRC, the Daredevil rights should've reverted because Fox ain't done squat about a sequel or a reboot.

^ Just a wild guess, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that they probably don't set out to make shit movies.

Besides, you haven't seen it, so you really can't say if it's shit or not.

Though they do occasionally seem to make movies with indifferance to quality just to retain the rights. Not the case here, though--if the movie sucks, it will suck due to legitimate incompetance.

The first one was shit. And it didn't make enough money to warrant a sequel.

^ Presumably it did, as Hollywood don't usually make sequels out of love for the first movie, where it bombs.

As for the quality of the movie, well, I quite liked it. But it's a totally new creative crew behind the camera, so there's no point in judging this one by the merits of the other.
