In this link, which was originally linked at earlier in the thread, Cage referred to a 'brand new origin sequence.'

Cage told the outlet that the sequel would depart from the 2007 original in several major ways, including offering a brand-new origin sequence reinvisioned by the directing pair of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. What's more, Cage promises some "wild" filming techniques.

I took it to mean that this movie is not keeping strict continuity with its predecessor.

For goodness' sake, people. It's a requel: part reboot, part sequel. How many times am I gonna have to use the damn word before it finally catches on? :lol:

I would have to say I have to agree. Hell, I might even go see it in the theatre.

Wow, that looks pretty sweet. I've never seen the first one though, so I can't compare them.

Does anybody know which songs are being used in the trailer? Is that music from the first movie?

The trailer looks really cool!!
Looks like the visual for the GR is to have a more charred look vs the clean white skull of the first movie.

Some indication is that the Rider is manifesting itself differently now. I'm sure that's part of the altered origin sequence we'll get or other narrative explanation.

I hope the fire pissing is only something in the trailer. Can't really see that working in the movie without it coming off as camp.

I think that first song was used in The Island. Movie looks good!
