Get Taylor Swift A Booty

Huh, for some reason I thought Taylor Swift started on American Idol. Maybe I got some crossed wires with Taylor Hicks.

I am in no way trying to imply that shaming a woman for her looks because she is a celebrity is okay.

But you don't exactly see her refusing her makeup before going on stage or refusing to be photoshopped in magazines. She makes more money by artificially enhancing her attractiveness in ways most women can't do.

Can you really participate in shaming non-millionaire women for their bodies and then complain when some random techno guy most famous for producing M.I.A. makes ridiculous comments about your body?

She's crying all the way back to her mansion.

"Money makes it all better" is not a reasonable position to hold.

She has voluntarily appeared without makeup many times.

Even if she didn't ever appear without makeup, JirinPanthosa's post comes down to "she was asking for it."

We don't know if she's crying or not. She hasn't said a damn thing about this at all.

I don't think it's even about what Taylor Swift herself wants, it's just basic human decency to not be a complete dick about how other people look. I don't care how famous someone is, what makes anyone think they should go around commenting on who has a nice ass/rack/whatever and who doesn't? Is that supposed to be clever? Funny? Insightful? It's none of those things, it's just fucking gross.

How other people look (and how they choose to look) is nobody's else's business unless it's somehow hurting someone else, and last I checked, "has no ass" isn't gonna hurt anyone.

Maybe some people think it's admirable or cute to never mature beyond a teenage mentality, but it's really just pathetic.

She is a public person and a media event.

She is "asking for it".

In a perfect world she is asking to be treated with respect while she takes all our money, but this is not perfect world so some of us treat her like a punk while she take all our money. Taylor is asking to be famous, but it's difficult to control what form that fame takes. As long as she is still taking our money, she really shouldn't complain, unless it's the complaining that gets our money.

Taylor swift is not your friend.

Taylor Swift is not a person.

Taylor Swift is a commodity.

If Taylor Swift does not know that and expects to be treated as a friend and person by half a billion people, than she is an idiot.

So one bloke is mean.

7 million men and 1/2 a million women are using her image to masturbate to this very second.

Unless no one has explained that to the little blonde girl, she's all good with that, but it doesn't seem to balance one dick on twitter saying something mean about the version of her that she expresses to the public.

I'm not saying that she is fake to be mean, I'm just assuming that her publicist is doing a good job or they would have been fired.

For all we know, this nobootygate was generated by Team Taylor Swift to sell bobble heads.

No, but one can not intentionally take advantage of superficial judgments to increase profit, and then complain about superficial judgments. I

It would be like if the Republicans won the White House in 2016, and then complained when the Democrats made it difficult to get anything done.

You are misrepresenting my arguments, I in no way think the comments are acceptable. But if you want to complain when somebody makes superficial judgments about you, you have to complain when they make positive superficial judgments too. She is approached by record company executives and told: "More people will buy your album if we make you look artificially hot in ways that normal women can't possibly live up to, which will make them feel bad about themselves", and she says "Sounds good, where's the check?"

Her albums are successful based on her name. Just like Justin Bieber (or all the manufactured/packaged celebrities) or are you going to argue that Justin Bieber's music has any true artistic inspiration, or deep thoughtful messages?

This makes zero sense. So, her name and her name alone made her successful? What's so magical about the name Taylor Swift that some how triggers people to buy a record?

The reality that you are missing: she writes catchy music that connects to a vast audience. Perhaps now, as she as a repetition, she is able to reach an even broader market, but, she got there because she writes music that people like.

Like Bieder did, or does, not sure if he is even relevant any more.

She writes pop music. She's not aiming for deeper thoughts. Hell, it took the Beatles four albums before they got to anything deep.

Both of them tend to sing about the same shit every other top 40 trash song is about: Romance and Sex
It's not the topic, it's the execution. She executes catchy songs really really well.

If it was so easy, again, we await your album. It should be a smashing success.

I honestly don't know anything about TS other than she just seems to be another manufactured top 40 pop artist, with a gazillion marketing firms behind her promoting the fuck out of what to me, seems the most boring, soulless music ever created.

I believe her success has to do with appealing to what most teens and tweens (particularly women, but some men are included here also) are thinking about in this part of their life: Getting layed, and finding someone to love.

So yeah, easy target for the marketing moguls of the music industry to center on.

Wikipedia says that she has been active/famous since 2004, and her first album was finally released in 2006.

Time = Credibility?

No, I misrepresented nothing. You said "she's crying all the way back to her mansion," as if that makes a difference how much money she has.

You're also taking it too far in terms of statements. If someone makes a passing statement commenting that you're handsome, you take it as a compliment. It might make you feel a little better the rest of your day. Someone comes along and says you're a fat ass, and now you feel awful. What did you do to deserve that kind of rancor? Do you honestly equate the two comments as if they should both be acceptable?

To put it another way, if someone gives you $5, and another person steals $5 from you, is it all okay because it balances out?

Manufactured by who exactly? She seems to have gotten where she is by working hard and having a family that supported her ambitions.

The anonymity of social media allows people to say things that they wouldn't say to a person's face. People we see mostly on media seem to be less than human; deserving of anything we can dish out with impunity. And if they have earned a lot of money, let's really let them have it! I guess that shows what kind of people we are or are becoming. Society is definitely becoming more belligerent. We spend too much time looking for nasty things to say about others, it seems. Tearing down and destruction are so much easier than construction and creation. All this is so depressing.

The person who made the comment, is d-list famous, and the boyfriend of katy Perry.

No anonymity.

Diplo, a DJ and Katy Perry’s boyfriend, tweeted, “someone should make a kickstarter to get taylor swift a booty.”

Google says that they are still together.

(They broke up in May, and got back together in October.)

You have to wonder why Katy is still with him?

Does Katy dislike Taylor?

I wouldn't attribute it to "society" as a whole. It tends to be a small but vocal minority who trade in this sort of nonsense. If anything, we're talking more about this sort of behavior, calling it out when it happens and shaming people who act this way.

That won't take tabloids off the shelves or shut down TMZ but it's a start.

I think Taylor Swift is a talented, beautiful young woman, and much like every other woman on the face of the earth perfect just the way she is.
