Well, I figured we would have learned it eventually. I'm just a little behind
We were basically plopped right down into the middle of life with Emperor Georgiou, with very little back story except for little bits about her relationship with Mirror Burnham.
I would like some in-depth back story included somewhere in the new series, so that we will have some context.
Is she really the way she appears to be? Is all as it seems?
Was that even actual Kelpien she was eating? All we have is her saying so in the episode.
I'm waiting to see what they do with the whole thing before I give an opinion.

But let's see where they go with the character.

I mentioned this in another thread but it bears repeating here. We have seen characters who are a part of the "good guys" do bad things. My first example of more recent remembering is Cassian Andor in Rogue One, when our first introduction to the character is him killing and informant, and prepared to do the same to another.
The next, and the one that strikes me as most appropriate, is Darth Vader. Somehow, despite all the slaughtering, the genocide, the torture and evil, the audience is to celebrate his returning to the Light Side and getting to be a Force ghost. And now, with Lucas' retroactive idea of "The Saga of Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker" the title "Return of the Jedi" refers to Anakin himself.
More to the point would there be this much push back if Vader lived at the end of ROTJ and joined the New Republic?

I think Section 31 will be a Star Trek Mission Impossible.
I seriously doubt that the TOS mirror universe and the one from Discovery's first season are the same mirror universe.
Spock a half-alien as first officer with the potential to become captain of a imperial starship alone says this.
Georgiou was called the Terran Empire equivalent of a liberal by Lorca, maybe she started reforms that lead to Half-Human Spock to advance better.
It really doesn't.

Full disclosure, I didn't see the video, as I dislike these kind of youtube videos that are usually made by some disgruntled fan (my apologies if this is not the case here). But this sounds like wishful thinking by a Discovery detractor.
I know CBS executives have said that they will have a pipeline of Trek shows and some of them may become replacements for existing shows. But the only thing producers (e.g. Kurtzman, Kadin) have said is that section 31 production starts after production of Discovery season 3 is completed. So if Discovery ends after 3 seasons then this could be a replacement, but I highly doubt that. There is been mention of Picard series being planned for 3 seasons, so it may give the impression that they want each of these new series to run for 3 seasons only. Again I am doubtful of that. They will keep Discovery and Picard going as long as they stay popular.
What if Ash Tyler we're co-star, and the dynamic of the show is that he's Georgiou's chaperone, trying to complete missions with her while also preventing her from razing entire worlds in the process?
CBS best sign Yeoh soon before some other project scoops her up.

What is unrealistic about, maybe we shouldn't treat genocidal psychopaths as besties and we might have a future where organisations like the KGB or CIA are not needed. The CIA didn't even exist until the 20th century and was very nearly shut down by Kennedy.
These organisations exist because of the geopolitical nature of earth in the 20th and 21st century under imperialism and capitalism, the material conditions of the future may be very different.
This is what makes S31 crap to begin with, it shows that even in the future humans are just violent hypocritical imperialists. It's representation on Discovery also basically tells the audience that things like Iraq ,Vietnam, Yemen are justified. If Star Trek is about showing the best we can be, what does it say about the writers that their vision of the best we can be even with unlimited resources is to be reliant a psychopathic organisation that engages in violent regime change, mass surveillance and genocide.
Why people want a TV show in the Star Trek universe around this crap is beyond me. 99% of science fiction is dystopian dark shit, why can't we have at least one nice thing that says we can be better?

I really am starting to feel a little sympathy for the fans who grew up with TNG and who's Star Trek is a bunch of people sitting around a board room table having a dick measuring contest about who has the most moral argument of the episode because look what CBS is doling out which really does harken back to TOS and puts the glory years in a box:

Awesome. A little disapointed that JLPD won't be also filmed in "The Center of the Universe" but I can see how Michelle wants to continue to hang in T.O.
