General Trek Questions and Observations

Some random observations about the "Star Trek" universe:

Deltans disproportionately die young and violently.
  • Ilia ("Star Trek: The Motionless Picture")
  • T'Veen ("Star Trek: Picard"--she's a Deltan/Vulcan hybrid, apparently)
  • Melle ("Section 31")
When time-traveling to the late 20th or early 21st Centuries, everyone will fall for your hilariously bad on-the-spot lies, except for one spunky young woman, who will end up becoming your guide through this century.
  • Dr. Gillian Taylor ("Star Trek: Save the Whales")
  • Rain Robinson (VOY, "Future's End")
  • Teresa Ramirez (PIC, Season 2)
Female characters who are in the main cast don't change their surnames when they get married...
  • B'Elanna Torres
  • Deanna Troi
  • Jadzia Dax
....but if she's just a recurring character or guest star, she will change her last name, or at least hyphenate.
  • Keiko O'Brien
  • Kassidy Yates-Sisko

You’d think his name would be “Worf Rozhenko.” Or in Klingon form Worf Son of Mogh.”

His name was Worf Son of Mogh until Mogh was disbarred from memory. When he got married it would've been Worf of the House of Martok.

But none of that is a surname per se and it wouldn't be used like one.

Has anyone heard of this? Trek should definitely use the word "orbisculate", then it can get a Memory Alpha page, too.

I think it could fit in nicely with technobabble. (though of course not in the meaning they give on that page).

- 'Captain, under the barrage of those polaron particles, our warp field is degenerating and will collapse within 30 seconds!'
- 'Have you tried adapting the orbisculation manifold?'
