General Trek Questions and Observations

I never cared for her, but I don't like the post that solving their issues could have been achieved by throwing money at her. Her issues had to do more with feeling useless professionally on the station. Money and gifts would not have helped that.
... What else could O'Brien have done? Bad enough Keiko wore the pants in their relationship ... it makes it really hard to like Miles, because of that. But he's a Family Man & devout, Irish Catholic, so that compensates, some. Still in all, when Keiko's just nagging the poor Man to death ... O'Brien needed a break. And throwing money at her might've just accomplished that. That's all I was trying to say. Sophie, you have my assurances: I had the best of intentions!

He did get plenty of breaks from her, all the time he spent with Julian and all the time she was off the station.

I remember in DS9's first season, Keiko made a scene in public, whilst she and Miles were having lunch, somewhere. Gave him such shit and I really felt bad for him, because nothing pisses me off more than my woman starting some shit with me, in public. Look ... be cool, here and $ave the insanity, till we're far away from the public eye ... it magnifies the drama and makes you not want to trust her, in general. Like a loose canon, on deck ... you know? Making the need for a break even more prolonged. A Man needs to feel loved. He needs to feel desired! Getting bitched at ... not so much.

If you've honestly got a partner I'd encourage her to look up "misogyny" and then pack her stuff. Jesus fuck, dude.

I admit once I made a public scene at a restaurant with my ex husband and his friends

We shouldn't look at 24th-century human relationship dynamics through early 21st-century eyes. Humans will have evolved. Roddenberry said so.

I think that's an issue we have with all of Trek when thinking about how certain people behave. We can't help but think of their behaviors compared to our behavior now.

Sophie, I know there are times when I can seem a little rough, but let me assure you that I do have a romantic side. No -- it's TRUE! For example, I can't get this song the frig out of my head right now, for some reason:

Ooga-chaka Ooga-Ooga
Ooga-chaka Ooga-Ooga
Ooga-chaka Ooga-Ooga
Ooga-chaka Ooga-Ooga

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-Hi-Hi-huh-hi ...
I'm hooked on a feeling! So high on believing
That you're in love with meeeeeeeeeeeeee ...

Okay folks. This is getting a little personal, so I'm asking everyone, nicely, to back up and let this line of discussion rest.

Thanks

Here's one for those more familiar with San Francisco than I am...

Based on the view outside his window, exactly what part of San Francisco do you think Kirk's apartment is located in?

The Full House house. Converted into apartments after World War III.
