Spoilers General Discussion, Spoilers and Speculation Thread

First New Years Special information. Ah, go on, go on, go on.

"G'won there, Doctor, woncha have a cuppa tea? You sure you won't a cuppa tea? It's hot, Doctor, just the way you like it. Well, alright then." (Pours tea on the Doctor's hand as she leaves.)

Of course, if you know Pauline McLynn from Shameless rather than Father Ted, the quote would be VERY different.

Given that both of the guest stars for the episode are Irish I'm hoping that it's not set in Ireland after the painful Oirishness last series.

So a Passenger can contain hundreds of thousands of individuals then...like maybe all the Timelords? (or enough of them to repopulate *Galifrey?)

*Galifrey is still there isn't it? The death particle didn't destroy the planet just wiped all life out. They could always colonise a New Galifrey anyway.
As RTD doesn't like the Time Lords, I doubt we're getting a repopulated Gallifrey or New Gallifrey. Or if we do, it'll only be so RTD can make them extinct again.

While I'm hoping they lean into it heavily! :p

Plus, another excuse for the Gallifrey joke!

Bel and Vinder are in this ep, apparently still looking for each other. I'm starting to think the TC theory must be true; why else would they throw in that lost lovers saga?

Also, apparently The Independent accidentally posted its review the other day. They said it was the best ep of the season and that Jodiie was great. Looking forward to that.

One spoilerish detail I remember:

Claire gets her wings, so to speak.

I really hope it's not that. For one thing, that's just too obvious/easy. For another, it's just plain bad. Ugh.

But, it doesn't really fit. I mean, why would these two random people be TC's parents? There doesn't appear to be anything special about them. And they just happen to have this miraculous baby? I'm positive there's more to their story than we know.

I'm still hoping TC turns out to be the Master.

Because of the leak, did they just drag poor Jodie out of whatever she was doing to record a 10 second spoiler warning?!

Some more information on the New Year's Day special:

The festive special will feature guest stars Aisling Bea (This Way Up, Living With Yourself, Quiz), Adjani Salmon (Dreaming Whilst Black, Enterprice) and Pauline McLynn (Father Ted, Shameless).

Sarah (Aisling Bea) owns and runs ELF storage, and Nick (Adjani Salmon) is a customer who visits his unit every year on New Year’s Eve. This year, however, their night turns out to be a little different than planned…

The festive episode is the first of three Doctor Who Specials airing in 2022. The second Special airs in Spring and Jodie’s final feature-length Special (in which the Thirteenth Doctor will regenerate), will transmit in autumn 2022 as part of the BBC’s Centenary celebrations.
The article also includes a poster that features the TARDIS exterior looking pretty bad...

Triple post but whatever. It's Doctor Who Day!

A terrific behind-the-scenes video about the wonderful work director Jamie Magnus Stone has done with the show this series:

I haven't seen much of her, but she's hi-frickin-larious and also gorgeous. I did see a clip of her and John Malkovich on the Jonathan Ross show.

I've seen her on QI, Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Countdown and other such panel shows.

Sooo... episode 5 will either be Doctor Light (with everyone else trying to get out of their respective predicaments and/ or trying to rescue her, hopefully) OR the Doctor in a dreamscape, receiving a Divsion Very Expository Powerpoint Presentation, right? The latter would mean we'd start getting some answers, at least... And I hope we'll see that black & white dreamscape house again. Maybe the Division need the Doctor's help.

I wonder if Ruth will come back and save herself, so to speak.
I just hope that Yaz won't start again with the shoving. The Doctor might shatter in 1000 pieces, literally, if she's still in WA form. "Three years! It's all your fault! How could you do that to ME/ US!"

Funny, she'll have known Dan and Jericho for a longer time than she knew the Doctor. And Dan hardly ever spoke to the Doctor before they got separated, he's more Yaz' companion than anyone's.

I don't think I need any more info about the origins of the TC., but I do expect answers about the Division and the Flux etc. But I'm almost resigned to Vinder and Bel being her parents, throwing the baby through the portal (into the past) when in peril at some point, or to save the universe or whatnot, so the Doctor is in a neverending loop paradox, because The Power Of Loooooove, A Force From Above...

ETA: Did we ever learn the name of Vinder and Bel's planet?
