Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

I look forward to anticipating what will happen next and speculating. I can watch in a binge too, but I also don't mind every week. Same thing with Picard.

As far as what other people on the board like: "It's been noted and logged." To quote Kirk in "The Trouble With Tribbles".

Card Carrying Fan of the Mirror Universe here... but that's not where I'm going with this, so I have to say that before going in a different direction than what people would've expected.
It was crap like every MU episode after the first 2
Edit: Actually ENT managed to have fun with it
Hmmm... with ENT, from that POV, I wonder if it had more to do with the Mirror Universe itself, or being the one-two combination of a Mirror Universe episode and a TOS Tribute at the same time?

The concept of “Terra Firma” was interesting. However, I feel like there was so much they could have done with it.

And in my opinion, anything after “Mirror, Mirror” was a return too many to the mirror universe.

The "Terra Firma" 2 parter is really good. Everyone was mad they dared go back to the Mirrorverse at the time but, damn.

With just a tiny bit of work though, they could have just used it as the prologue to the Section 31 show, where I think it would have been much, much better.

That 2 partner is premier Trek, highlighting both the capacity of savagary and evolutionary growth potential of humanity. That it uses the Guardian of Forever is fun but ultimately immaterial to the excellent character work. MU, or no, when ever I hear Star Trek discussing how humanity can evolve I think of this and Magnificent Ferengi.

Part of the fun was not involving a crossover at all and having it as a standalone. Gave the episode a unique dimension in the same way the first DS9 one gave us something new before the later crappy redundant ones. The DS9 ones and the Discovery ones were way way too small universe too with the crews main players suddenly being Emperor's and galactic leaders

Again, I'm torn because on one hand, it's something I really yearned for throughout Discovery (a story where the POV character is someone other than Michael) but on the other hand, it didn't really gel well with being in the second half of a serialized season of Trek.

Basically, it was a great two-parter, but it arguably damaged the season as whole.

That's exactly how i think about the MU arc in Season 1 ;)

I don't think it damaged as much as it might appear at first blush. Yes, it's annoying in so far as it breaks up the serialized storyline but fits one of the themes of finding one's place in a new time, and discovering you are out of place.

Season 1 is far more jarring than in Season 3.

I do wish that there was a Short Trek on where Carl sent Georgiou...
