Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

If she was familiar with the information that was on USS Defiant - and there's every reason to think she would be - then she may have noticed that things aren't tracking quite right with what was said there for the last few years, and tracked the apparent source of the differences back to CONTROL, which she probably would have been familiar with a version of in her home universe. Section 31 only thinks *they* recruited *her*, when really, she got herself associated with them in trying to get to the bottom of a mystery.

Good call. I think something to do with the Defiant database is even more likely given this cryptic exchange:

Burnham: So you're telling me this out of the goodness of your heart?
Georgiou: No, the goodness of yours. I know so much more about you than you can imagine. But that's for another time.

There could be other reasons, but it makes sense that part of why Georgiou is so good at her job is because she has foreknowledge. I also find it unlikely that they're going to do something to make her less sympathetic given that Michelle Yeoh is getting her own show, so I'm on board with the idea that she's out there investigating things based on the database and staying a step ahead of everyone else. (Rather than masterminding Control's descent into murderous tyranny, for instance.)

A bit fanwanky, but kinda a cool potential scenario when he gets to the end.

Ah, more 'wipe Discovery from the timeline' wish fulfillment fantasy. No more needs to be said about this. And people complain about Burnham being fanfictiony.

It's part of the Five Stages of Grief:
1. Denial
2. Anger
3. Bargaining
4. Depression
5. Acceptance

Right now, they're in the Bargaining Stage. "Maybe it won't be Prime!" "Maybe it'll take place aboard the Enterprise!" "I like Pike!" Except it is still going to be called Prime, it won't take place on the Enterprise as a permanent main setting, and eventually Pike won't be on the show. Not to mention if these same people didn't like how the outside of the Enterprise looked, they probably won't like the inside any better. If I were them, I'd keep my expectations in check.

I'd prefer a "Calypso"-themed third season. Star Trek's never taken place that far out, and they could do all kinds of things with it. I don't know if that'll be what happens, we have to see how the rest of the season will play out, but it's what I'm personally hoping for.

I can't imagine Georgiou personally reading every last word of the Defiant's logs. I'm sure she had people do that and give her the highlights. The future tech would be the main focus. But I imagine the lives of her counterpart and Burnham's might be of interest.

Knowledge of the future is just as powerful as technology. Even with all of their differences the two universes were the same in many parts, at least pre DS9. For example Kirk and Lorca both became Captains. If the Defiants logs say someone became an important Leader in the prime universe Mirror Georgiou should consider that individual a threat.

My personal theory is that the Defiants logs were a reason why Georgiou adopted Michael in the first place. There is something about her that makes you want her as an ally.

It's not their future though. The names and jobs might be the same but they're leading different lives.

Different, but the same in many ways. Not only were the two Kirks both Captain of the Enterprise, they were both negotiating (well for Mirror Kirk that would be "negotiating") for dilithium rights with the same people on the same day. There are enough similarities for Defiants historical data banks to be weaponized.

However, this introduces the paradox of time travel, as by knowing the future you impact by that very knowledge. It's like studying an electron-you can either know where it is or what direction it was going. By observing it you change one of the two data points.

Some manipulation is certainly possible, but some facets would be just as unpredictable as others.

With all the mysteries and puzzle pieces, not to mention wondering where things are going and how, this season has definitely lived up to the title Discovery. Red Angels, an stand-in for Ancient Religion, is even something you might see on the Discovery Channel.

I'm still banking on Discovery somehow being thrown into the far future (or another galaxy... or another parallel universe) and stuck there, thus opening up the 23rd century for a Pike spinoff. How and why Pike and Spock aren't on the Discovery when this happens, I haven't figured out yet.

While Spock says he served with Pike for Eleven years, four months, five days, he doesn't say that the entire time was on the Enterprise. And though Kirk says he takes over command of the Enterprise from Pike, there is nothing to say that Pike didn't serve a full tour as the Disco's CO between stints as the Enterprise's CO. The problem with this scenario is their plans for Georgiou to appear next season, and then in the Section 31 show following that. Short of her somehow escaping back in time and carrying on just as she had before, I dunno how you combine that desire with a time jump.

I'm a Vulcan, sir. We embrace technicality. :vulcan:

Season 3 could be all about them dealing with the 33rd century and stuff of that nature, which is solved with a time jump back to the past in the season finale.

Then Section 31's show can begin with Georgiou getting back in the fold after her year in the far future. Then Season 4 of Discovery can tell us what the rest of the crew have been up to since coming back from a strange future.
