The first time I watched the series, I just took it for granted that Keyla Detmer got hurt during the Battle at the Binary Stars, but when I watched that episode again I didn't see any instance where she would or could have gotten injured, which makes me wonder how and when she did get hurt enough to require the cybernetic implants she sports for much of the season.

For any Canadians who are interested: it looks like Space is doing a season 1 marathon next weekend in advance of the season 2 premiere:

Episodes 1 to 8 - Sat Jan 12, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Episodes 9 to 15 - Sun Jan 13, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Matching the American release day, the season 2 premiere is Thu Jan 17 at 8:00 pm. Unfortunately (for me, anyway) the late repeat (for the first one at least?) is at 1:00 am, instead of 11:00 pm, that night. And they're replaying it on Sat Jan 19 at 8:00 pm also.

I just saw "Lethe." Hmm. I see Tilly is definitely coming out of her shell.

Lethe is my favorite episode of the series so far. Planet Vulcan looked a lot like it did in ST09 (which I thought was brilliant), and "Logic extremists" are something I definitely want to learn more about.

Also, the episode gave us some concrete insight into the roots of Spock's and Sarek's strained relationship (Sarek screwed Michael over for him, and it all ended up being for naught), and it was done in a surprisingly clever and convincing way.

I actually never understood why this episode wasn't held in higher regard, as I too thought it was brilliant. For 50 years, we just sort of accepted the half-baked "Sarek was mad at Spock for joining Starfleet" as the reason for two highly intelligent and logical men not speaking to each other for decades.

Lethe added tremendous depth and dimension to the history of this relationship, and did it in a meaningful and "logical" way that I thought was excellent and added significantly to the TOS lore.

For me, it's the scene between Cornwell and Lorca that does it. Love that scene. Love Lorca holding Cornwell at gunpoint after Cornwell sees the scars on his back. Then when Lorca comes up with his two-timing decision to follow orders just that once to not rescue Cornwell. Shows how twisted he was. He was willing to let her die to save his neck. And when Cornwell meets with the Klingons and I'm thinking, "Oh shit", that's the first time since TMP they've been that scary.

The Sarek stuff? Eh, whatever, it works. I like the wrinkle that Burnham didn't get into the Vulcan Science Academy because Sarek wanted Spock to go instead and then Spock didn't. An interesting note, but that's not makes me like the episode so much. It's the Lorca/Cornwell scenes.

Matrix-style Sarek/Burnham fighting is a hoot too. And, on that note, I'll see you guys later. I've had five hours of sleep in two days. Everything feels surreal right now because I just got home and I'm somehow in a weird awake but dream-like state.

If plans haven't changed since August, this month Star Trek Online is getting a mission with Mirror Tilly voiced by Mary.

So while obviously it's non-canon, it will be neat to hear her try to voice act as the real 'Killy' instead of just Tilly pretending to be her.

IIRC the mission is suppose to cover what happened with the ISS Discovery after it switched places with the USS Discovery and subsequently destroyed by the Klingons.

I don't think I've admitted this up to this point, but the new look of the Klingons has grown on me after I was one of those people who really didn't initially like the look when we first learned about it.

Since the Short Treks were released on Thursdays, and the premiere is Jan. 17, is the show moving to a Thursday night release for season 2? I tried to find information on air schedule with Google, but came up with nothing.

Does she specifically say that she got injured during the Battle of the Binary Stars? Because I always assumed she got injured during the Klingon War at some point between that episode and Context is for Kings.

(Of course, that raises the question of why he wasn't spotted more quickly, given how McCoy was able, at the end of "Tribbles," to almost instantly detect that Darvin was a QuchHa', with nothing more than a tribble's reaction and a simple tricorder scan. Hell, why didn't Lorca's pet tribble recognize the disguised Voq?)

One of the brig scenes ("Despite Yourself"?) with Tyler and L'Rell reminded me of a scene in Young Frankenstein, the one where Frau Blücher <cue the terrified horses> is releasing the Monster, and talking soothingly to him.

That tribble was dead, Jim.

Seriously, Lorca's a creepy alien body collector (and for no apparent reason, as it turns out).

As to the medical scanners, I believe it was specifically mentioned that Voq's procedure involved massively invasive surgery which literally physically relocated his organs to the appropriate places for a human. Any anomalies still present after that were written off as part of the massive scarring tissue caused by the procedure (which Starfleet assumed had been the Klingons torturing Tyler). Arne Darvin's procedure quite possibly was only cosmetic, therefore much easier to detect. It's also conceivable that Starfleet Medical at the time of DSC simply wouldn't have enough medical information about Klingon anatomy to have unmasked Darvin as easily as McCoy was able to do only 10 years later - after all, Humans had limited contact with the Klingons during the ENT era and almost no real contact between ENT and DSC (beyond just ships shooting each other). It could be the reason McCoy knew as much as he did about Klingons is because of this war on DSC.

Tyler and the tribble never shared a scene together.

He was also biologically closer to Human than Klingon. The Klingons used the real Ash Tyler’s actual organs and other parts to create him.

Also TOS is 10 years after this, plenty of time for McCoy’s tricorder to be an updated model. Maybe with the data used to find Voq out.

From the looks of it, Orville isn't going to be on for much longer, so it doesn't matter.

People have been saying that since season 1.

How about you post a source instead of just claiming it like fact.
