Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Eh, I mean Edward was meant to be a character with no redeeming qualities, but the short was also supposed to show Lucero wasn't ready for command, given she lost control of her first ship so shortly after her promotion. There are no competent Starfleet officers here.

I dunno if it was COVID or not, but did anyone kiss their significant others at all this season?

I know that Gray and Adira never kissed (which is idiotic, considering I would think that would be the first thing I would want to do once my SO had a body again). And Saru and T'Rina never moved beyond handholding. But did Michael ever kiss Book? Did Stamets and Culber ever kiss?

I flat out ignore characters kissing in fiction. I imagine COVID impacted filming in this regard, but I honestly couldn't tell you.

Star Trek is about the human condition. While they’re certainly not going to show a ton of sex on Star Trek (particularly as Trekkies exploded at its inclusion in an episode of Disco… between Klingons no less!), sex and romantic relationships are a pivotal part of the human condition. So one would to stand to gather that kissing is an important part of the human condition.

But to each their own.

I disagree. In TV nothing comes across as more fake than a TV kiss.
I don't mind a fake kiss. Otherwise TV episodes would have to stop for minutes and minutes and minutes while we watch French Kissing. That and the fact that most of the actors have spouses or partners who probably wouldn't appreciate them making it look too real or putting a little too much effort into it.

Got to suspend disbelief to keep things moving and also not upset the real life relationships these actors are in.

Sadly, any kissing pretty much takes me out of the story because of the reasons you list. It's just flat out uncomfortable for me. Even if it was French kissing it would be unbelievable.

Honestly, watching two people make out on camera for any length of time can be kinda gross.

Unless it's two attractive women I mean.
