Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Amazing how people can disagree on things... Hugh has always been a favorite of mine, and I think that in his new 'councelor'-role, he's become even more relevant and interesting to the story..! And Wilson Cruz is just an amazingly kind man, and it shows through the character he plays..!
The guy is a fine actor, but I find the character doesn't give him a lot to do. I could be expecting too much though.

Wow. I just felt that with certain scenes of him. It's probably based on my experiences with people over the years, not necessarily aware of exactly why. It's Human nature. Alright? Why do you care?

Creepy is a very negative term, at least in my experience.

Because creepy has just an overly negative connotation.

Nothing about him seems creepy at all, just a caring figure, he is the shops counselor now anyways.

There's a huge range of creepiness. There are folks who are outright creepy while others might have traits or tendencies that might creep out certain folks. I've known people who creeped out certain folks when I didn't see it. It's all based on people's experiences prior to those encounters/views. It's not black and white.

I definitely thought "Oh that's not a good sign" when he said it.

Reasons they might not be coming back:
  • It wouldn't be the first time Discovery's made a huge irreversible change to its situation.
  • Every important character aside for Tilly, Vance, Gray and Burnham's mother is already on the ship or heading there.
  • It'll get the ship out of Starfleet Academy's back yard.
  • It'll mean they never have to show us what happened to the Klingons.
Reasons they might still be coming back:
  • The series still hasn't connected to Calypso yet.
  • The ship's too fragile and has to keep going back home to have a new hull put on.
  • Discovery has never been about space exploration.

It'll get the ship out of Starfleet Academy's back yard.
On that particular point, I'd think they'd want to have the ship around for the Starfleet Academy series in order to have crossovers happen. It's kind of hard at the moment to have a crossover involving Disco, Picard and SNW because they're all in different time periods, but with two shows in the 32nd century, they're not going to want to create a situation where they can't have crossovers with each other. Especially since crossovers are so en vogue these days.

I dunno, the way Discovery jumped time periods and set up SNW at the same time gave me the impression that they actually want to keep the series separated. It wouldn't surprise me too much if they pulled the same trick here, setting up Starfleet Academy and then giving the 32nd century Milky Way to it in the same season.
