Re: Elim Garak to appear in Kirsten Beyer´s Atonement
Hello, friends...
It's been awhile. Sorry about that.
Atonement is all but done. I think I get to read it one more time before it goes out into the world.
A Pocket Full of Lies is written but has yet to go through production...copy-edits, first and second passes, etc. It is on the schedule for release on January 26, 2016, making it the "February" book for that year.
And now, a little housekeeping...
Garak meets Janeway. This should be good. *gets popcorn*
The popcorn is always a good idea, but in the interest of appropriate expectations....Garak does not meet Janeway in
Atonement. She remains in the Delta Quadrant while he is still in the Alpha Quadrant as Cardassia's Ambassador to the Federation. To say more about who he does meet with might be spoiling things, so I won't.
And yes, chatting with Una regarding his appearance was a great deal of fun. I only wish she and I had cause to collaborate more often as she is a spectacular writer. She was most helpful in suggestions, and also provided me with an number of great excerpts to read to add to my understanding of the character. Also, an excellent excuse to finally read
A Stitch in Time, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
(Apologies, I lost the quote on this one)
Is Atonement Beyer's last Voyager novel?
If so, who takes up her mantle afterwards?
Atonement, coming out in September 2015, will be followed by
A Pocket Full of Lies in February 2016. After that, nothing has yet been decided, but for my part, I like that mantle right where it is, thanks.
544 pages? Sweet! The only downside to that is the end of August is almost always a busy time for me.
I mentioned this a long time ago when Amazon first posted the page count for
Atonement. That is simply a mistake. While the word count is my current standard these days...around 120,000 words, the book has been formatted, as is also standard these days, to come it at 400 pages.
As always, I am looking forward to chatting with all of you in a few months when
Atonement comes out. If there are any questions in the interim, ask away and I will try and make myself more available to answer them.
Best,
Kirsten Beyer
