Games (or Mods) with Multiple Generations?

I remember when I was a kid, getting the first Starfleet Command game, and being disappointed that it had different versions of a ship class from different eras, but the models themselves were all the same (for example, the date the earliest cruiser was available was pre-TOS era, but the model you see is just the same movie-era ship as all the other cruisers). Eventually, I learned about modding, but by then, SF1 was old news, so it took a lot of digging to cobble together enough mods for it to make a collection of ships that truly represented the different eras.

Birth of the Federation was a similar experience; it's supposed to simulate the entire history of the Federation, but only with TNG-era ships (and a few TOS-movie era)? What a letdown.

Is there anything out there that actually goes through all the periods of Trek history with fully individualized models for each era? I guess Legacy counts, but the linear nature of that decreases the replay value (it is kinda pretty to look at, though). If there were any other official game, I assume I would've heard of it by now, but there must be a mod out there somewhere. I can't be the first Trekkie who's wished for something like this, right?

It doesn't even need to be a mod of a Star Trek game. If anyone knows of a multi-era Star Trek mod for some other game (especially in the 4X or strategy genre), I'd be just as excited by that.

Personally, my top two Trek games were Star Trek Bridge Commander and Star Trek Legacy, both modded with as many ships as I could find, where I could load any battle that's been aired.

I guess that's probably a pretty good place to start, I guess I'm just looking for something with more of an ongoing campaign system. (Am I being too picky?)

I do remember reading up on mods for Armada and getting the sense that those games were made to be pretty modder-friendly. It probably wouldn't be too hard to get individual ship mods and combine them together into a multi-era setup.

Licensing reasons. MicroProse only had the rights for TNG (and its movies), hence the lack of TOS-era ships, Trill using their older TNG design instead of the newer DS9 look etc.
