[GAME] Special Enterprise Moments | Episode-by-Episode

"Impulse" probably has the shortest scene before the titles ever done. Phlox and Archer struggle to restrain T'Pol. Realizing there's no escape from the new tamborine remix of "Faith of the Heart", she screams so hard the camera breaks. ;)

Joking aside, I did like the creepy atmosphere on this one. Okay, so its basically 21 Days Later in space complete with hyper-violent Vulcans... but hey, it worked for me. The FX of the asteroid field and the drifting ring-ship are quality. That "not really home and dry yet" ending and how T'Pol won't be the same again, setting up that she's going to need more in order to keep control. It does set-up some of the reasoning behind her (to be revealed) trellium dependancy.

"Exile" is next and Hoshi gets some unwanted attention.

Exile. Not one of my faves, but I do like the scene where Archer is bouncing his water polo ball against the wall, and it finally sticks there because the ship is close to an anomaly. Just a great little sight-gag.

next up: The Shipment.

"The Shipment" is where we meet Gralik, who's a Xindi-Arboreal working to build components for the superweapon. We see the first sign of tension between the differing Xindi races. Archer has to work hard to convince Gralik. They end up sabotaging the kemocite so it can be tracked onto the next stage of assembly. It's nice that even with the Earth in jeopardy plot, the writers have Archer and Reed arguing over doing the right thing... The Captain points out he's not out here to start a war and by destroying this outpost, they will be confirming the Xindi's fears about Humanity. Malcolm counters that they struck first and not to forget the 7 million who were killed.

Up next "Twilight" and we really see what is at stake, if Enterprise fails.

There's a lot for me to love about "North Star." When the shuttlepod lands on Main Street and Archer, T'Pol, Reed, and a couple of MACOs climb out, in Starfleet uniforms... wicked cool. And the way pretty much all of the Act Four battle is staged and shot. Great stuff.

Next: "Similitude."

The final scene. The staging, the acting, the music. Amazing! Gives me goosebumps.

Next: Carpenter Street.

Okay, Carpenter Street. For me, there's a lot to choose from, because the episode is full of funny, fish out of water moments. But my favorite "moment" is the drive thru scene. All three actors just played the comedy brilliantly, from Archer's increasingly annoyed no, I don't want to supersize I just want a plain damn burger, to T'Pol getting totally skeeved out just thinking about bacon on a salad, to Loomis camping it up in the middle. The best moment:

"Have it your way." A shout out to us old folks watching, as this was the long time slogan for Burger King in the 70's. (Every time I watch that scene, I get that stupid jingle lodged in my head.)

Next up: Chosen Realm

Chosen Realm: I loved it when Archer was executed by transporter. He didn't even ask for a blindfold!

next up: One of my faves from S3: Proving Ground.

Proving Ground: I love Jeffery Coombs! The point where Shran bullshats Degra about being part of the "Andorian Mining Consortium" looking for "Archerite"

"The Andorian Mining Consortium runs from no one!" - Shran sarcastically

Up Next: Stratagem

Stratagem: I liked the scene where Degra talks about wondering how many children were among the dead on Earth. It lays nice groundwork for his decision to help Archer.

Next up: Harbinger.

I love Archer dressing down Reed and Hayes in his Ready Room. We so rarely saw him get that mad at his crew.

"And don't try to tell me who started it!" What parent hasn't used that line? And then he just leaves them hanging. "Do you think we're dismissed?"

Next: Doctor's Orders

It's a great moment when "Trip" appears to Phlox in Engineering while he's trying to get the Warp Drive going.
"That machine was designed to manipulate space, to violate the laws of motion. You make the tiniest mistake, you'll collapse the warp field, you'll crush this ship."

Next up: Hatchery.

I like the scene where Archer explains why they shouldn't destroy the hatchery. It really made me think, as, until that point, my reaction to it had been: "Torch it!"

Next: Azati Prime

Azati Prime: Captain's farewell to the crew.

"I'm going to ask all of you to think back to the day when this ship was first launched. We were explorers then. When all this is over, when Earth is safe, I want you to get back to that job. There are four hundred billion stars in our galaxy – we've only explored a tiny fraction. You have a lot of work to do. Of all the captains who will sit in this chair, I can't imagine any of them being more proud than I am right now."

eta: next up: Damage.

I liked actually seeing the ship in pieces. The production crew did a great job in turning Enterprise into a Battle damaged ship. It's all in the details and they put in those details. Broken walls, The comm sounded like an old Cell Phone, etc.

Next up "The Forgotten"

The Forgotten: Trip's scene with T'Pol, where she gently tells him that Vulcans are overwhelmed by their emotions and can only function by controlling them.

Next up: E2

E2: Karyn tells Archer about his alien wife, Esilia. You can tell she wants to tell him all about her. There's this tiny, tiny pause and then Archer completely changes the subject, like he's just not ready to grasp that concept. I remember thinking, There's a whole lifetime in that pause, when I first saw the episode.

Next up: The Council.

The Council: Trip apologizes to Degra and thanks him for helping Archer get to the council.

Next up: Countdown.

"Zero Hour": the scene between Archer and Hoshi at the beginning, when she's freaking out and he gently calms her and focuses her, so she can get the job done. I always liked the scenes between the two of them.

Next: "Storm Front Part 1." Oh boy...
