Spoilers Game of Thrones: The Final Season

I forgot to mention this. My heart went out to Sam during that scene. The poor bastard fled Oldtown before the Archmaester got the chance to break the news to him and he found out in the worse way possible: Gawking at Daenerys because of who she is and how she's thanking him for what he did for Jorah and then BAM! Out of nowhere, Daenerys reveals the truth when he reveals his name. Thanks a lot, Jorah! You could've warned her who she was speaking to!

Was Jorah with her when she took on the Lannister army? I can't remember.

I think that the Arya, Gendry, and The Hound seen showed how much Arya still cares about Gendry as he is the best friend she has ever had. I did wonder why he did not ask her how did she get Needle back as he was with her when it was taken from her.
For the same reason Arya didn't tell Jon she has a Valyrian steel dagger right after he showed off Longclaw: Time. There's only so much continuity winking the show can do, I suppose.

I wonder if she has a specific plan for it.
This is Arya we're talking about. Of course she has a specific plan for it!

No, but based on his reaction during the scene, he clearly knew about it ahead of time.

One of the effects of the Arya reunions were to reconnect her with her humanity. It’s a contrast to how she was when she met Hot Pie. She was cold, distant, a stone killer.

Now she’s Arya again.
Yup, exactly.

I might have been reading to much into the moment, but when she was watching the procession into Winterfell, she almost called out to Jon (Edit: Actually, I think it was Gendry) but then stopped herself. The look on her face seemed abashed and almost childlike, as if suddenly she was that little girl once again.

Arya reuniting with Jon was appropriate for the story, but her scene with The Hound and Gendry just felt 'tacked on' to me.

Except she spent a lot of time with both of those characters with varying feelings: A grudging respect for The Hound after all of the trials and tribulations they went through together and affection for Gendry that might be something a little more. They both clearly mean a lot to her so it's important to see their reunions.

If I remember correctly Jorah rejoined her later in that episode after the battle.
Yeah, he shows up right after she returns to Dragonstone.

I don't see it that way.

I like The Hound, but having he and Arya have a conversation about how she left him for dead and clearly doesn't feel all that remorseful about it didn't need to be shown because it's absolutely inconsequential to the story or to either character's overall development, and she and Gendry interacted with each other in passing and have no connection otherwise.

That scene felt like it was only there because of fanservice and took up episode time that could've been devoted to something else... especially since, in terms of actual content, the episode was only 54 or 55 minutes in length despite having an 'advertised' runtime of 66 minutes.

It is possible that Arya’s relationship with Gendry and The Hound will become more important in upcoming episodes and this episode was a setup for that. At least by combining the reunions into one it took up less time.

The title of episode was supposedly "Winterfell". Not imaginative but appropriate.

Some nice reunions and meet ups. The show always handles this well. I was disappointed not having a scene between Jorah and Lyanna mormont.

I thought they will keep "jon finding about his parents" until the second episode, so it was a pleasant surprise it happened here and it was handled well. But still no reaction about Dany being his aunt.

My heart went out to Sam when he found out about his family.

I expected the episode to end with Jaime and Bran as it did in the very first episode of the series.

One more episode before the big battle

Well, okay. I guess I had a greater emotional investment with those relationships so those reunions meant more to me.

We've always had the old phrase wrong. It's not "The quick and the dead," but "The quick *are* the dead."

We know Cersei isn't going to kill Jaime because if she wanted to she would have had the Mountain do it back in King's Landing. Also, Tyrion will pay double.

The dragons are off their feed because they're pregnant because it's a hormonal imprinting thing with their Targaryens, like roommates' periods supposedly syncing up.

Jon's reaction deconstructs high fantasy tropes by rejecting them. (Please forgive the cliches.) This is far too effective to be acceptable I suspect, not least with the producers. But that should really be the end of R+L=J.

I think there will be dragon eggs but no dragons but the end of the season but I am probably wrong.

I did like the ‘this one has blue eyes’ scene. I am waiting for The Hound and Tormund reunion.

I just realized there's one glaring omission amongst the reunions (aside from the Mormonts): Sansa and the Hound. Granted, Arya ended up developing a closer relationship to him than Sansa, but before he fled King's Landing, they had an important relationship (perhaps more so in the books).

Jon was blatantly deflecting after Sam told him the truth, and unless something changes, I see him doing one of two things:
1) Not telling Dany about it and letting his claim to the Iron Throne die
2) Declaring, in both public and private, that his being the "true heir" doesn't matter and that she is and should be the Queen

Actually, from the way that scene played out, I think they're going with 3) Tries to ignore it, but now can't unsee every despotic and morally reprehensible choice Dany makes in the name of "her" throne. Grapples with the question of whether or not he is morally obligated to step in and make his claim to protect not only the people of Westeros from Dany, but Dany from herself.

Like the new opener with only KL and Winterfell. Amazing how after everything everyone alive is pretty much in the same place now.

Was surprised Lady Mormont didn’t react to Jora.

New bar for “Most awkward sex ever”. With her dragon staring at you.

Well they were also staring at him--she's the Mother of Dragons, but I wonder if they're looking at Jon as their deadbeat dad who abandoned them?

I wonder if she has a specific plan for it.

I didn't get a good look at it, but it seemed as if it could be a crossbow or some other missile weapon--to kill the Zombie Dragon perhaps?

She still does not know he is Robert Baratheon’s bastard.

Didn't she know back in the second season when Cersei's men killed some random kid with Gendry's helmet? Now I will have to go back and watch those episodes again.
