Game of Thrones season 2 anticipation - HBO shows footage

Please pardon the interruption, but as someone who has never seen the show nor read the book, I have one question: why was the "A" left out of the TV series title? Meaning: the book is A Game Of Thrones, but the series is just Game of Thrones. Why did they do that?

I can't find anything online, but perhaps they wanted to differentiate the book from the series, since the series isn't just an adaptation of the first book? Alternatively, maybe they thought "Game of Thrones" sounded cleaner?

If we're thinking about the same point, then that hiatus will just be delicious. You think people went crazy over Ned Stark? We haven't seen anything yet.

Probably because they thought it sounded better shortened. Also they wanted to use the title for all seasons/the whole show. But mostly because they can. :) They bought the rights.

The fact that a big event that might make people flip out happens at some point in the series is a spoiler? How freaking sensitive can you get?

Are you serious? Don't downplay it, you specified what book, and how devastating the event it would be, if it was as generic as what you just posted in reply it wouldn't be a issue.

I wasn't being sensitive, if I was I might have actually flipped, where as I just thought it could be spoilerish.

I only brought up Ned Stark as something that people flipped out over. Did you see the people going nuts when that happened? I didn't indicate at all what this event might entail. I wasn't even the first person here to mention that people might go crazy over what we speculate might be the point they would try to end the third season on.

Spoilers: More bad stuff happens.
Pretty much. This is just much ado about nothing. OdoWan didn't bring up any specific events, just that something down the line could rival the death of Ned Stark in terms of controversy.

This reminds me of a scene from The Big Bang Theory where Sheldon gets mad at the owner of the local comic book store when he says that the new issue of Hellboy is "mindblowing." Sheldon considers this a spoiler, because now he'll be going into the comic with his mind "pre-blown." :p
