I think now that Martin's pretty much past AFFC/ADWD, both of which required a ton of rewriting because his original "five years later" plan wasn't working out, he'll finish the last two books sooner. I don't think we'll have to wait ten years for two books again. If the series continues to be popular for HBO (not only being a ratings success, but bringing in new subscribers and selling like crazy overseas) 8 season's shouldn't be a problem. The real problem will be if George R.R. Martin can't finish the books in time for the season(s) based upon those volumes yet unwritten.
Two things...
1. Why post that list in this thread? There is another thread for book spoilers.
2. A large chunk of those characters (most?) will not be in the show anyway. Either combined or eliminated from the adaptation.
Hmmm, I don't think people afraid of spoilers have anything to fear from that.![]()
8 seasons? Out of 6 or 7 books... so which book(s) will get split into two seasons?

It now sounds like the rumors of them shooting back to back probably aren't true. They're planing on shooting season 3 and 4 back to back.
If it's the point I'm thinking of, I can't wait to see how people handle the hiatus between that season and the next.I don't think there'll be an even split. Probably like the later third of ASOS getting pushed back. From the comments I've read, ASOS will NOT be split in half as many people have been saying. There's a specific point that they want to get to which is past the halfway point.8 seasons? Out of 6 or 7 books... so which book(s) will get split into two seasons?
