Game of Thrones season 2 anticipation - HBO shows footage

If the series continues to be popular for HBO (not only being a ratings success, but bringing in new subscribers and selling like crazy overseas) 8 season's shouldn't be a problem. The real problem will be if George R.R. Martin can't finish the books in time for the season(s) based upon those volumes yet unwritten.

I think now that Martin's pretty much past AFFC/ADWD, both of which required a ton of rewriting because his original "five years later" plan wasn't working out, he'll finish the last two books sooner. I don't think we'll have to wait ten years for two books again.

I'm actually going to be out with friends on Sunday night so I won't be able to catch the premeire. But I'm DVR'ing it and will watch it as soon as I get back.

Must. Not. Click. That. List.

My brother already spoiled the big death near the end of season one for me; I'm doing my best to avoid spoilers this time.

I almost clicked that list since I've already read the book, but then I thought "what if they moved someone's death forward or backward in the story?" and decided not to take the risk. I may know the general direction in which the show is headed, but that doesn't mean I want to be spoiled on the exact details of how it gets there. :ouch:

Someone I know who just watched the series wanted to know if a certain character died, and all I would tell him was that it wouldn't happen this season anyway, so not to get his hopes up lol. But I wouldn't tell him if they died or not eventually. I thought that was fair. :D

In case anyone can't wait for the episodes...

Two things...
1. Why post that list in this thread? There is another thread for book spoilers.
2. A large chunk of those characters (most?) will not be in the show anyway. Either combined or eliminated from the adaptation.

Trust me, if you view that list all your concerns will float away.

I've read the first book in the series and stopped at that point to avoid being spoilt on future events in the TV show. I have to say i'm rooting for Robb Stark though, as a Liverpudlian the idea of the north being split off to avoid being screwed over by the south is certainly a concept that appeals to me.

8 seasons? Out of 6 or 7 books... so which book(s) will get split into two seasons?

I don't think there'll be an even split. Probably like the later third of ASOS getting pushed back. From the comments I've read, ASOS will NOT be split in half as many people have been saying. There's a specific point that they want to get to which is past the halfway point.

They're going to start reordering the timeline quite a bit from the second season on - some things will be brought forward, others will be pushed back. They're not looking at it as particular seasons adapting particular books anymore, but rather as a saga that will unfold over what will hopefully be eight seasons.

Please pardon the interruption, but as someone who has never seen the show nor read the book, I have one question: why was the "A" left out of the TV series title? Meaning: the book is A Game Of Thrones, but the series is just Game of Thrones. Why did they do that?

If it's the point I'm thinking of, I can't wait to see how people handle the hiatus between that season and the next. :D
