Game of Thrones season 2 anticipation - HBO shows footage

Something I've been thinking about. What are they going to do all season with
Jaime? He spends the entirety of Clash of Kings sitting in the dungeon at Riverrun. They've already used part of his biggest scene in that book in the first season, when Catelyn visited him. I assume they're not just going to tell a main cast member: Sorry, you're not going to show up this year.

Ugh, I hate making these ridiculous posts given the below will ALSO be in spoiler code, but...

... if they had the episode time then I would use him to tell the history of how we got here. The mad kings descent, the houses aligning, all leading up to his decision to become the "Kingslayer". Him sat in his cell reflecting would give a nice run-up to his HUGE character growth in Seasons 3 +.

BUT, they don't have the time. So I think it would be hugely daring to have the actor come in and work for a few days and shoot 10 very short 1 minute scenes. One per episode, either to open or close the episode... Jaime being pissed on by his guard. Jaime being left a proper bowl of food by the nice gaoler etc. Jaime mumbling about Cersei's tight... ;) No words, just stubborn Jaime, getting grimmer and grimier as the season progresses, until the final episodes scene where Catelyn can walk in and say something akin to "time for you to pay your debt, ser" with Brienne looking a little sheepish in the background.

Given how much they have to cover in the season it would be folly to purposefully continually drag him into scenes just to remind us he is there. Once or twice is all that would be required to refresh the audience. They are expanding other minor roles as it is so i fear it will already be overstuffed.
In the end, I have faith. After the first 3 far-too-crammed episodes of season 1 the show found a pretty even rhythm and hopefully Season 2 will also.

Hugo - Knows that the last sentence really is wholly pointless without all the rest hidden above it ;)

Will Season Two still be titled Game of Thrones or will there be a subtitle in there somewhere for CofK?

The show is called Game of Thrones, so it'll stay that way. It'd be neat if they titled the first episode "A Clash of Kings," though.

Thanks. This show really got me interested in the series. I am halfway through the first novel now, and trying to decide if I want to read the second before the new season comes out.

Not having read the book prior to the first season I was glued to the screen throughout. Of course, now reading the book it is filling in background information and I finally have all the names straight in my head.

Any suggestions: Book 2 or Season 2 first?

Yeah, they didn't want people confusing her with Osha which makes no sense to me since they aren't in the same part of the world and don't ever meet (I'm only on book 4 so maybe they do at some point?). I think Davos and Stannis got mixed up. I imagine Davos a bit younger than Stannis and I figured Stannis to look a bit older than Robert. As far as the Natalie Dormer casting, we'll see how things go. I just hope they make Melisandre look as "firey" as possible. She's the one I've been the most anxious to see how they make her character look. And Brienne.

The failed escape attempt which was 'off-screen' in the book.

Well, I know I'll be counting down the days until then. I just hope I can scrounge up the $80 for the Blu-Ray by then.

54.99 for Blu ray set is expensive for 10 episode season, but its HBO and Its Game of THrones..so of course I am all over it.

I remember when it was more the norm for HBO series/mini-series to be $100+ when they came out on DVD so $54.99 for blu-ray of a 10-episode series doesn't seem so bad.

I'll repeat myself from the WiC post:
No commentary for ep.9? That's THE episode to do a commentary for.

It's too bad they're not including the original, Tom McCarthy-directed pilot, although I realize that may be too expensive, and some of that was incorporated into the first episode as broadcast. I won't be picking up the series just yet, but when it comes down in price, I'll definitely consider it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I dropped 100 bucks on the Band of Brothers DVD set back in the day. Anyways, Game of Thrones is going to be a sure fire buy for me.
