Can't wait for Joffrey to get shitfaced.

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

Fantastic episode.

I loved the way Tyrion says to Joffrey "Did my hand fall off my wrist?"

Well, you can't complain about things not happening...

Poor Theon, cant make a single decision by himself. Loved the close quarters intensity of the attack on the royal party. But of course Tywin and Arya stole the show again this week.

Fantastic episode. Alfie Allen should get an Emmy nomination.

Arya's only got one wish left! I hope she makes it a good one!

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

Great episode. I loved most of the winterfell scenes, and ygritte fucking with Jon know he can't do anything about it lol

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

Rated excellent - Yep, they're really rolling now. I now understand why they spent the past couple of episodes building set-up. The roller coaster is on the move. Theon has become quite the arrogant little shitworm - even moreso than he ever had been in the past. Was very sorry to see Roderick get the treatment he did. I really liked that guy. Unquestioning loyalty to the end. Personally, I think Theon should be Bran's first execution as Lord of Winterfell once Ice is returned. Probably won't happen, but this did happen under Bran's watch and Then did break his word to Bran about not hurting any of his people if he yielded, simply due to an over-abundance of adolescent pride.

And is it me or is Danny starting to bluster a little more like her insipid brother every episode? He was not called the Beggar King for nothing. All talk and nothing to back it up, especially since her dragons are still hatchlings. Now that they've been taken, she doesn't even have that. If she's not careful, she will start earning the name Beggar Khaleesi.

This was a fantastic episode.

Dani does need to learn to keep her mouth shut though. Granted the chick has been through a lot but she needs to learn discretion.

Cersei seems to be slipping into madness. Cannot she not see that Marcella is safer away from the shit storm that she and Joffre have created?

Tywin and Arya are the dynamic duo. I could watch an entire ep of those two playing cat and mouse with their responses.

Tyrion seems to be the only Lannister spawn that inherited Tywin's ability to strategize. Cersei seems a little too used to having things handed to her. I have not seen enough of Jamie to pronounce him capable or a lackwit.

Theon is such a snake in the grass. I cannot stand his entitled, snivelling little backside. I sincerely hope that bad things happen to him.

I loved John's tomentor. She was a hoot.

Based on what I've gleaned from the books so far (I'm running pretty much in parallel with the series at present), he seems to definitely be a cunning soldier, who has had his fair share of victories, but also somewhat reckless, as would be appropriate for someone of his age and experience. I would not put him on the level with his father, though, when it comes to strategy and logistics. Tyrion most certainly inherited those qualities. And I would agree with Tyrion, with regard to Cersei, where her only redeeming qualities are her undying love for her children and her cheekbones. Other that that, she's about as useless as tits on a board and has done her family no favors by her ill-executed proxy rule through Joffrey.

^^Yeah. Be careful what you wish for. ;)

Other that that, she's about as useless as tits on a board
Fun Trivia: The Westerosi version of that idiom goes: "as useless as nipples on a breastplate"

Hellloooo Osha. Though I'm not totally clear why she needed to do that.

The Arya/Tywin scenes are one of the series' whole-cloth inventions, but they work really well.

The attempt on Sansa's life during the riot was toned up from the book, which I wasn't expecting, particularly since they toned down the stripping scene. It's a little creepy thinking of them filming that with a 15-year-old girl.

I think the actual expression is "...tits on a bore" (as in a male wild pig.

But tits on a board are equally useless, so... :)

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

My grade: Excellent! - My new favorite episode of the season.

The first 10(?) minutes in Winterfell were intense. Great stuff. And the botched execution is realistic - Before the guillotine, it was not unusual that it would take several attempts to sever someone's head. Especially with a sword - Most executioners would prefer a heavy axe.

Loved the Jon & Ygritte stuff. Plus epic scenery. And Ghost doing his own thing. :)

Dany is certainly slipping a bit - but it's not like the show is not aware. The 'spice king' was correct in his assertion. I was only surprised that he did not ask for a dragon as payment for any ships.

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

In regards to Osha leading the ragtag pack out of Winterfell
With Luwin not going with them, it gives me hope that the Reeds might make a appearance. Now Osha can take Rickon, and the Reed twins with Hodor can go with Bran. Many people thought the Reeds could have been taken with Luwin..with Luwin going with Rickon and Osha with Bran. Bran needs some light

...and it's "tits on a boar, for the record. :D

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

This is slowly becoming Tywin and Arya's season. I figured yeah she get's captured, becomes the westeros equivalent of a maid and that's fine, but there is so much subtly and drama in those scenes it's becoming just really awesome to watch. I'm almost wondering if we can cut all the Jon Snow stuff (Not really liking the character this season, or the storyline) so we can stay with Tyrion, Tywin/Arya, and Daenayres storylines that are oh so much better. Add Theon to the mix after this week's episodes and I say give the guy who plays Jon his walking papers because that storyline is the weakest and right now not necessarily needed.

Of course I kid about the Jon Snow story and Ygritt is actually kind of hot, but where exactly is that thing going. Gee they're in the frozen north, hunting wildlings, that's exciting. Right now it really is taking away from everything else, and when everything else is like 10 times better, that's really saying something about this season.

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

^^^ I don't think Jon's going anywhere for a while.

Haven't read this far ahead in the books but the Fire & Ice Wiki gives some brief synopsis - provided the series doesn't deviate too much, Jon will eventually infiltrate the Wildling army to discover their plans and tactics, and eventually return to the Wall. At some point, Mormont will be killed and Jon will take his place as Lord Commander. That is, until Stannis arrives following the Battle of Blackwater (which should be at the end of this season) and plants his flag at the wall to help fight the Others. Melisandre's religion speaks of some prophesy that the true King of Westeros will help fight against some Super Other, which is basically the equivalent of Satan to Mel's God/Lord of Light, paving the way to his undisputed succession to the Iron Throne. Jon's position comes into jeopardy when Alliser Thorne returns from King's Landing with Janus Slint and accuses Jon of oathbreaking and treason. Most of this will happen in season 3, which should track somewhat with Storm of Swords
