I'm not reading the books so they don't influence my watching at all. I DON'T want to have those "oh that's different" moments, I just want to watch the show.

Yeah. I will definately read the books once the show is over, but at the moment I just want to lean back and enjoy the show since it was what sucked me into this fascinating universe.
