Spoilers Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff ‘House Of The Dragons’ ordered to series

  • Thread starter Enterprise is Great
  • Start date
Enjoyed this episode much more than its predecessor. Emma D’Arcy gave a towering performance and generally there was a great mix of drama, humour and even horror of a sort. The Velaryon family are looking quite wholesome compared to how the Targaryen lot are getting on. Same to see a few faves bite the dust this early but the stakes are pretty high when you play the game of thrones.

Hey, we finally found Otto and just in time to lose his head....oops! Oh, hi there, Alicent! Awwwwkard...

I will say, while I wasn't engaged with most of the episode (Larys and Aegon hijinks aside), Emma D'Arcy and Matt Smith were stellar in all of their scenes, especially during Rhaenyra's heart-wrenching grieving over her son's body and the final scenes of the episode.

Pity Aemond doesn't appear to be dead but if this means more witchy shenanigans from Alys, then it might be worth it.

Just when Alicent was coming around to some sense, that's going down the toilet now. I'm actually looking forward to an episode for the first time in a long time. If only a little bit.

I think the titles are updated every episode to show the most recent events.

I thought 3.3 was another very good one. Once again Emma D'Arcy absolutely killed it, and the sound design of the episode was really effective at reflecting how she was feeling. Even if you don't agree with everything Rhaenyra did, it all just about made sense. Feeding the rats to the nobles was pretty badass, but I did like the new Manderly character pointing out she was the reason people were starving in the first place too. Treating Coryls like that was her worst move. He's done a lot for her!

Ulk wanting to be named as a Targaryen and instantly being shot down was a good comedy bit.

They really need to hire some new rat-catchers.

That episode was intense.
They did a good job making us feel the water Rhaenyra is slowly drowning in.
I never read the books, so I have no clue if she will manage to ever find a bit of breathing room. For a little while at least.
Something tells me that’s not in the cards.

I can't believe I'm saying this but that was a damn excellent episode and probably the best episode since somewhere in season one. I loved the narrow focus on Rhaenyra jumping in head first into her reign without realizing how damn difficult it is to rule the many facets of a massive kingdom and its many needs. Her optimistic ambition that leans towards naivety reminds me a lot of Daenerys' rise of power in Essos and that's probably deliberate.

But at least along the way, we can enjoy watching her feed the greedy nobles a feast of rats while stealing back riches they hoarded away. I wish someone would do that in real life.

Yeah, that was disappointing to behold. She never seriously consider it and I think that's a great commentary on both classism and race, as well as the obvious hypocrisy he shouted out at her.

I turned off the episode about 5 minutes in. I'm done. Bring back Dunk and Egg

From the very first day of Game of Thrones the entire lesson has been have a good (crafty not noble good) Hand of the King.

Rhaenrya really needs a good Hand for all that boring admin stuff. Corlys is only a wartime Hand.

Trailer For Episode 4. After Jace's death, Ormund Hightower is the new king of mogging.

Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but I got the impression Ormund's relationship with Daeron might be a bit...abusive. Like, Daeron's dragon really didn't like Ormund touching him. Of course even if it isn't a sexual thing, forcing a child to execute a guy who did nothing wrong is abusive in itself.

I'm pretty sure Sunfyre is going to turn out to be alive but just in a deep dragon coma. Maybe Aegonn will do some fire magic to wake him. Then burn all those assholes he encountered this week. (I'm aware of what happens in the book but this isn't a book spoiler, I'm just going by the events of the show.)

Daemon's lie about Rhaena is obviously going to get out, probably in the season finale. It's nice that he does care about her, at least.

Ulf is going to betray Rhaenyra because she won't let him go to the pub, isn't he.

Lady Jeyne Aryyn looks like a beautiful elf queen.

Well Ormond clearly hates Targaryens in what appears to be both evangelical and racist ways so that is going to be very damaging to the child he has raised. I imagine he will have all sorts of psychological issues from being told he is a disgusting abomination his whole life.

I feel sorry for that one Hightower who isn't a scheming power monger. Stuck with that family and having to deal with an idiot like Cole who is gonna get him killed.

Interesting that despite starvation nobody in Rooks Rest has started to take the dragon apart. I wonder is it superstition or practical that stops them.

Also if Sunfyre is this alive that was just a stupid scene and taking misdirection too far.

...and we're back to nothing but a bunch of assholes (for the most part).

Really only a few parts of the episode really stood out to me, while the rest was just rubbish.

The powerful scene between Daemon and Rhaena (who I had forgotten was Daemon's daughter until this moment, which is commentary on its own) and how all of this will end in tragedy for both of them. I love that Daemon ultimately chose to come to his daughter's defense, even if that's what ultimately dooms him.

I'm loving really loving how the Rhaenyra/Alicent relationship continues to evolve and how Rhaenyra keeps going back to Alicent for advice and wisdom despite their captor/prisoner dynamic. I can't help but wonder if Alicent is secretly plotting against Rhaenyra and not just because this is a George R.R. Martin show.

I know the show is trying to recreate the Arya and the Hound magic with Larys and Aegon's misadventures but it just doesn't have the same spark. Larys is fun to watch scheming but I just don't care about Aegon one way or the other, even he's forced fed just desserts.

Everyone else is just shit, especially Ormund. I'm so very tired of the "I'm standing naked out of my tub to show off my massive cock" swagger trope. Please just stop doing that, everyone.
