Spoilers Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff ‘House Of The Dragons’ ordered to series

People really hate the foot fetish scene and the dragon breakout. Both remind them of the really bad elements of GOT under D&D (exploitation for its own sake and spectacle even if it makes no logical sense).
I enjoyed the latter for what it was but I don't disagree with the assessment.

Likely done to preemptively get social media hyped for the big finale.
Things like this don’t happen on accident anymore.

We should make a poll. Who do you support:

The Blacks or the Greens?

They didn't intentionally leak the episode, that's nonsense.
The HD leaks have been out for two days. And yet there is a surprisingly lack of DMCA claims by HBO on YouTube, Twitter and other platforms.

It seems deliberate. I could always be wrong though.

That was a very tense finale. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. That ending is definitely going to escalate things.

That was exactly the ending I expected from the books, as it's a logical endpoint for the first season.

That said, I loved the twist in that Aemond (who is presented as a monster who actively murders Luce in the book) actually didn't intend for it to happen in the end. It helps drive the tragedy of the entire season that none of this is really any one person's fault.

I really like the way this turned around from a snooze fest at the beginning of the season to a tense drama at the end. Looking forward to season 2.

You would think Aemond would have already learned the lesson of: “it’s all fun and games, until someone loses an eye”.

Losing control of his war machine dragon and killing your nephew. Aemond just ignited this war.

We all knew this was coming, but I was sad to see it.

I suspect season 2 with have the conquest of Harrenhal, the battle of Rook’s Rest, the crimes of Blood and Cheese and the introduction of Cregan Stark and Jeyne Arryn. If they push things, Rhaenyra could sit the throne by season 2’s end.

That Dragon that Daemon approached in the cave is reported to be Vermithor.

Arrax was far smaller than Vhagar in the scene that we saw.

I would also like to add that the Dragons featured in GoT and HotD are technically Wyverns.

I was wondering if it might go the other way and the other would die by accident, but no.

That was a really good finale, especially that dragon fight at the end.

That was a big whoopsie from Prince Aemond at the end there.
I mean it was tragic that Lucerys, one of the youngest and most moral characters died so suddenly.

But Aemond kinda did look like he was about to say "Oh Fudgesicle!" And that made it kinda funny

The Blacks or the Greens?

Neither! They both just started a war over power. Though the show does go to some lengths to morally upgrade quite a few of the characters when compared to the source material.

Really only if we go by Dungeons and Dragons and works derivative of it.
In real life Medieval Times people didn't have strict categories when it came to dragons/wyverns/worms. What they called dragons could take any shape of the ones you posted, or even stranger ones. Words like wyvern and (great) worm/wyrm were sometimes used regionally (and especially for heraldry), but they were never completely or cleanly cleanly from dragons, many European languages that have dragons in thier mythology don't even have a word for Wyvern.
It was only DnD that strictly separated them into different things, and that bled over into a lot of fantasy inspired by it.

And, in additon to that, in the Song of Ice and Fire universe giant, fire-breathing reptiles with two legs and two wings are Dragons, as established by the creator of that universe, GRRM.

Good episode to end the season on. For the larger budget and everything this still feels like a smaller show as it's mainly dealing with two groups of characters instead of the wide spread story telling of GOT. Hoping things get a bit more epic next season.

Obligatory mention of how Smaug in the Hobbit movies went from a typical four-legged DnD dragon ( as of AUJ's theatrical release ) to a wyvern ( as of AUJ's extended edition and the rest of the trilogy ).
