Well, with this show you never know...Her father...?
Well, with this show you never know...Her father...?
Anybody else kinda surprised at how stupid Allicent acted? I mean I get it, she's a mother and they hurt her child...but was she really expecting the King to allow her to take the eye of one of his grandsons, who are also 3rd and 4th in line for the throne? And then she attacked the heir to the throne.
That and it frees up Laenor to do his own thing. Laenor wanted to escape his father’s control and the ambitions Corlys had for him. Laenor had no interest in being wed to Rhaenyra and spent his time whoring and drinking during their marriage. Laenor wanted to be a fighting on the high seas again. But his oath to Rhaenyra held him back.
The book Fire and Blood is narrated by 3 different people. So there’s no one truth. This change allows the show runners to have their cake and eat it too.
A staged fake death and everyone walks away with what they wanted. Except the poor schmuck Ser Qarl killed.
I can't remember whether it was mentioned on either show, but I think it was a Targaryen lady called "Daenys the Dreamer"who foresaw the destruction of Valyria in her dreams (hence the name) and that was (one of?) the reasons the Targaryens left for Dragonstone. So having visions of the future definitely seems like it's something Valyrian.And... I can't remember, did Viserys mention that it was a dream of the death of Old Valyria that led the family to come to Dragonstone/Westeros in the first place? Some Targs having minor foresight via dreams is pretty well-established.
More excitement. My wife and I loved The Magnificent Century. It's interesting that they basically lured us genre fans into watching a royal court drama by including dragons that aren't actually even integral to the story
If this was about the Tudors how many of us would still be watching with the same excitement?

Looks like you finally got what you wanted then. The court drama in King's Landing was my favourite thing about GoT, to such an extend that I watched shows like the Tudors and the Borgias in-between seasons of GoT to help with the "Got withdrawal" so to say.
In comparison I found Arya's and (especially) Jon's stories rather dull, Daenerys' too once she got stranded in Mereen.
Sure I was look g forward to the epic war for the dawn we were all expecting take place at the end of the show, and was very disappointed at how lame and rushed and nonsensical it ended up being, but until that was going to happen the show could have been just about KL as far as I was concerned.

Are the timejumps ever going to be over? This show is basically based on an encyclopedia...In a "monkey's paw" kinda way. I don't find the characters as interesting as those in GoT (yet) and the show hasn't gripped me yet either, maybe it was the time skip. Maybe it will when those are over.
GoT didn't really grip me until Blackwater either (those scenes with Sansa and Cersei in the Red Keep during the battle was what made me a real fan of GoT)
I mean the show is entertaining and good enough, but I'm not at the "Hell yeah! Another episode!" point.
As for the Dragons. Without spoilering anything, they will become more important.

I think we are due for at least one more time jump. They still have to introduce Rhaenyra and Daemon's children, Aegon III and Viserys II. This coming episode may be the final time jump, given how much Aegon II and Aemond have aged. During the Dance of Dragons, Aemond was 20 and Aegon II was 22/23.Didn't they say something about the last one was going to be the last? I'm not really an expert about the timeline of the Dance of Dragons, but I could have sworn I've read it somewhere.

She's lucky that King Viserys was always amicable and became even more passive with age. I'm pretty sure some Targaryen kings would have had her eye (or head) for that.
