Spoilers Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff ‘House Of The Dragons’ ordered to series

None of these people are the "rightful" heir. Westerosi kings change the rules of succession all the damn time. There's no "rightful" succession when the rules change on the current king's whim, no "rightful" when you have the rule of people but no rule of law. And none of these happy assholes have the consent of the people they govern.

These assholes are all equally illegitimate.

You do know this is a fantasy show, right ? I can root for anyone i want in a fantasy show.

I fully support your attitude toward the main characters.

I'm definitely Team Black but shit, what the Velaryons went through this episode...

Also I'd like to point out that in the loud public pissing match between Aliecent and Rhaenyra, Rhaena and Baela's claims and complaints were totally ignored and it's like they didn't exist anymore despite everybody being there for their mother and their mother's dragon having been claimed that kicked it all off.

If they go far enough with future jumps and we see Laenor again can we get Craig Charles to play him?

There were a couple of moments at the end when Rhaenyra was speaking to Daemon that I could totally buy she was the older version of Milly Alcock.

Who would've thought Vhagar would be a heel instigator?

The mean team.
The Green Team.

This was probably my favorite episode so far. I loved the way the introverted, calm and deeply likable Aemond became a complete dick the moment he got a dragon. One of the best executed heel turns I can remember, because it felt totally earned. He's going to be one of the big villain characters going forward, I expect. (Also, one hell of a growth spurt in the next time jump from the preview.)

Rhaenyra is a complete mess. Between her abandonment issues and her ambition. I hate to say it, but Allicent is right. Which honestly makes it more tragic, in a way. Her romance with Daemon is cute in a deeply twisted way. I enjoyed how last week was about Allicent ultimately getting her father back in her corner, and this one is about Rhaenyra getting Daemon on her side in return. Kind of punch-counterpunch even though the fisticuffs didn't really kick off until this week.

Viserys, you weak old fool. You're making things so much worse with this wishy washy nonsense. I get it, because your heart always belonged to Aemma and it Rhaenyra is the last of her, but come on man. I didn't think they could create a king that feels even more out of touch than Robert Baratheon, but here you go.

Also, interesting the inversion between the way Allicent and Rhaenyra ultimately get what they want in these last two episodes. Allicent's wish for her father ends in multiple murder, while Rhaenyra only fakes one in order to free both herself and Laenor.

They are taking their time in setting up these pieces and rivalries, and it feels like it's really beginning to pay off. Though every scene he appears in I'm waiting for Viserys to drop dead and really kick things off.

Even Viserys himself could be said to be so, depending on how you want to interpret the Great Council that kicked all this mess off.

Between Rhaenyra's lies about her children and Allicent's disregard of Viserys' wishes and orders, both women are in danger of committing treason.

What was Ser Cristin's intentions when he begun to move towards Alicent and Rhaenyra when they were arguing and holding each other? That action made Daemon stop Ser Cristin.

So....I have a little bit of a problem with facial recognition in general and often are confused when a character suddenly has a drastic change in haircut/general appearance, so somebody please help me...
Did they murder some random guard and burn his body in the hearth so Laenor and his boyfriend could run away to Essos?

Also I think the only character I really like is Haelena, I like how she just sits there and mumbles about arthropods while everybody around her is a giant asshole.

As for home to root...as I say, it's a lot harder than in GoT which, no matter what its author claims or people say, did have the Starks as the easy heroes.
And well, the Greens come off as very unlikeable (and their candidate for the throne is awful), but so do the Reds/Blacks. Rhaenyra was irresponsible with whom she allowed to father her children (if she's so interested in having her claim unchallenged, then she should have waited until she had an heir and a spare until she took a lover, or at least got physical with her lover) and Daemon is still an asshole who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the throne either, and personally I never bought into any of the Targaryen bullshit, even with Daenerys, so I won't be buying into it with Rhaenyra and her ilk either.
Yes out of the claimants right now Rhaenyra seems like she'd make the best/least bad ruler, but with her mistakes she gave away that chance, in my opinion.

People who know how the book narrative works realize there's an obvious place for Laenor to come back.

Rhaenyra ultimately has two sons and a daughter with Daemon. The second son, Viserys II, ends up getting lost near the end of the Dance as a small child, and is presumed to be dead. But in adulthood he's rediscovered having lived in Lys under the care of a powerful family. He returns home, becomes a capable Hand of the King to his older brother (and his brother's two sons) and briefly becomes king himself before his son Aegon IV inherits (who ends up being one of the worst Targaryens ever).

Regardless, the timeline is always really vague about what happens to young Viserys in Essos. This is a logical place for Laenor to re-enter the series, rescuing his wife's youngest son and ensuring he gets to safety.

If something happens to Visarys I hope Alicent isn't left trying to fend of The Hand as a suitor.

Her father...?

Yeah, that's what I'm assuming too, wonder if it was a last minute change when they realized how it would look.

Or another case where they're changing up the "assumed" stuff because of unreliable narrators in the books? But yeah it probably doesn't hurt for that purpose as well.

That and it frees up Laenor to do his own thing. Laenor wanted to escape his father’s control and the ambitions Corlys had for him. Laenor had no interest in being wed to Rhaenyra and spent his time whoring and drinking during their marriage. Laenor wanted to be a fighting on the high seas again. But his oath to Rhaenyra held him back.

The book Fire and Blood is narrated by 3 different people. So there’s no one truth. This change allows the show runners to have their cake and eat it too.

A staged fake death and everyone walks away with what they wanted. Except the poor schmuck Ser Qarl killed.
