Future of Paramount includes Star Trek tentpole

Like the article states, the upcoming Bumblebee Transformers movie, is very much steaming ahead.

But Hasbro-Paramount are looking for a reboot of the franchise and that will probably happen with movie #7.

Paramount and CBS have more of an interest in Star Trek and Mission Impossible because they have long-term ownership of various parts of these things. Franchises like Transformers and the Marvel movies do not belong to them.

Well, his involvement in Trek was based on a pre-Tarantino premise. So I don't suppose there was any reason to expect that they were still planning on using him.

I can’t see them using Tarantino atm either. Though if they do, it will be a toned down Tarantino trying to reinvent himself. Who knows atm.

brief word on ST4 from Urban
When asked if there are any talks or movement on seeing Doc McCoy back on the big screen, Urban replied by saying "It’s really a question for Paramount (laughs). But, that being said, I have such a blast working on those STAR TREK movies. You know, that cast, we’re like family at this point. I’m pretty confident within, hopefully the next year, that we’ll be back on the set."

Reactions: pst
They are hopeful. The actors are the last ones to know anything, Chris Pine plays the main guy and he always said he's the least to know. Asking the actors is pointless.

That Urban quote is tricky because it could be interpreted as "I have no idea but I'm hopeful" or, "I do know, but I can't say it officially."
It's also not much different in essence from the answer Urban gave to the same question back in October:

"Yeah, look, I don’t know. I haven’t heard anything. Obviously, I would love the opportunity to make another Star Trek film. We always have so much fun when we get together. That cast is… they’re like family. That being said, if Star Trek Beyond was the last one we got to make, then I’m proud of the film and I’m happy to end it there."

Closer to "I have no idea, but I'm hopeful" than the other one, is the impression I get. Then again, the cast would be almost the last people to know about any but the vaguest details; they don't come in until a lot of other stuff has been worked out.
