Futurama cancelled. (Again.)

From Entertainment Weekly:

Entertainment Weekly said:
The Planet Express ship will soon make its final delivery.

Comedy Central has decided not to renew*Futurama, which means that the 31st-century-set animated comedy will end its 140-episode run on Sept. 4. The final 13 episodes, which represent the second half of season 7, begin airing on June 19 at 10 p.m.
-----------------
The news did not come as a shock to executive producer David X. Cohen and creator Matt Groening, who had thought their space explorations were ending three*previous*times (after the Fox run, after the four movies, and after Comedy Central’s first 26-episode order). “I felt like we were already in the bonus round on these last couple of seasons, so I can’t say I was devastated by the news,” Cohen tells EW. “It was what I had expected two years earlier. At this point I keep a suitcase by my office door so I can be cancelled at a moment’s notice.”.

Personally, I'm okay with it. We've been through this dance before, and given how 'meh' the show has been since renewal I just can't care.

Apparently there's a thread on this already in the regular TV&M forum, so the mods can lock or merge as they see fit.

WHAT THE FUCK! :scream:

And mindless reality shows abound, survivor, amazing suck race, morons who think they can sing and that all want to hear it! :barf::barf:

BAH!:brickwall: :sigh:

Ah well, far better to go out on a realtive high, rather than being dragged out long after it should have been put to bed.

Well, fuck!

Oh well, I guess one can't be too angry. After all, this show is on something like its third life now anyway, but damn. I've enjoyed the new episodes just as much (and at times more) than the pre-cancellation days. Simpsons and Family Guy may only be shallow imitations of their former greatness, but Futurama continues to go strong.

Ah well, Futurama has proven resilience and that it just can't stay down. I doubt this will be the last we see of it.

I've been still enjoying the show, so I was hoping we'd get at least a couple more seasons. We did get 52 more episodes since it started on Comedy Central and that's a lot more than some shows get their entire runs, so I guess we shouldn't be to upset.

Oh no! We need to go to beige alert!

Like I said in the General TV & Media thread, I'm thrilled the show came back from cancellation and it's been a great second (or third, if you count the movies) run but it's better for the show to bow out gracefully. I will surely miss it but we got a lot of episodes to rewatch for years to come.

Ah, well, it's a shame, but the show has had a couple of resurrections already, so we're pretty lucky. I wish some other of my favorite shows had been so fortunate.

And, who knows-- maybe somebody else will decide to bankroll another season or two.

There's always Kickstarter. :D

Well at least they'll keep producing the comic book version for years to come.

That person reading it must be very important.
