Futurama: Bender's Game

I'd guess I'm probably not the only poster here who's seen this by now (it's out on monday).

My take: Definitely the funniest of the three movies so far. A significant improvement over The Beast With a Billion Backs in my opinion. I think the huge Futurama nerd in me will continue to think of Bender's Big Score a bit more highly, because of all the continuity porn, but I'm sure I laughed more often and deeper at this latest one.

I'm reluctant to discuss the plot in case I really am the only one who's seen it, but Futurama fans, if you've been looking forward to this, you won't be disappointed. Mom returns, I'm not her biggest fan, but she can be funny, and she regularly is in this. Zoidberg has a slightly bigger part than in the previous movies and some of his incidental jokes (Zoidberg's speciality) are quite a bit funnier than in the previous two movies. No Zapp or Kiff, sadly, but they wouldn't really have had a place.

Its not a spoiler to say that the D&D/LOTR section of the plot (which the packaging gives away) is brilliant and is parody of the sort that Futurama does best - taking the piss mixed with homage for things the writers (and a good part of the audience) love, rather than a cruel hatchet job.

I still haven't seen The Beast With a Billion Backs. However, I look forward to seeing that and this new flick once I have the cash to spend.

I saw it last night... it was okay. It really seemed to drag. More "Bender Shouldn't Be Allowed on TV" than "Brannigan Begin Again."

I'm looking forward to this too. Not sure if I'm gonna rent it or buy it though, depends on the money situation.

I would guess the "eyeroll" was more to the fact that there are... shall we say... other ways of watching the film, rather then buying or renting it. Especially since people have already seen it and it doesn't even officially come out for sale until Nov.4th.

I'm sorry to say that it isn't reairing any time soon. If I see it listed on Comedy Central I'll send you a PM.

You didn't miss much. Beast was stupid. I hope Big Game is better.

Benders Game is definately a better movie, but still not jam packed with laughs like Big Score...

I get the impression Big Score was the pent up cum shot of 4 years of no Futurama, and Billion Backs was the dry follow up.

Having said that, Benders Game is funny if slow, hopefully Into the Wild Green Yonder will bring us full circle and be back on top form with Sci Fi Comedy, not Religous or Fantasy Comedy.

I really rather enjoyed this one...definitely a change of pace (and I'm mildly surprised none of the characters said "well, THIS is different" or something). :)

Yes, and those ways are illegal. Why are you promoting illegal activities, hmmm?

I moved the rolleyes to a far more appropriate post. Watch the movie legally, damn it. It's the only way we'll get new Futurama.
