Funniest Episodes

For me its has always been a tie between Trouble with Tribbles and I Mudd, but just the other night I got to see The Magnificent Ferengi again.

I would say all three for various scenes.

Tribbles - The payoff scene from the bar fight...the Kirk Scotty discussion as Scotty breaks down how the brawl in the bar started. Scotty - "Well Sair, we are big enough to take a few insults"

I Mudd - "logic is a little bird chirping in the meadow, Logic is a bunch of pretty flowers that smell bad" I think that was that quote and the simulated explosion that shorted out the girls :)

The Magnificent Ferengi - Quite simply for me the minute the Vorta is shot "I HATE Ferengi' and then flop, kills me every time! :guffaw:

Vons

"Deja Q", if only for Worf smasing Geordi's mandolin. Even if it was stolen from "Animal House". I'm sure that film stole it from somewhere as well.

But the Ferengi-centered episodes of DS9 were some of the funniest, most delightful, as well as good sci-fi eps if we consider the subplot of Quark's Mom leading her planet's fight for equal rights.

ENT: Unexpected; Singularity (CARROTS!!!)
Seconded. These two, along with Doctor's Orders, are just hilarious.

It's been a while since I've watched TOS, but the slapsticky ones had started to wear on me (Piece/Action, Tribbles). I think it's just a matter of that kind of writing and acting not being the norm anymore, because the Trek XI slapsticky parts had me rolling.

Can't believe no one mentioned Plato's Stepchildren from TOS. Horsey Kirk made me laugh so hard the first time I saw it. Shatner has the best impersonation of a horse ever.

Oh man, Plato's Stepchildren just makes me cringe. I can't laugh while cringing.

My favorite TOS is "A Piece of the Action"- love the Fizzbin explanation and the background shots of Spock and McCoy listening to Kirk.

For DS9 it'd have to be "Our Man Bashir"- I loved Sisko as Noah and Garak's reaction to Bashir's spy fantasy. And I found "Fascination" to be quite funny. My two favorite parts- Odo trying to avoid Luxwana politely and Dax punching out Bareil.

I haven't seen any of the funny TNG ones for awhile so I think I'd have to go with Q and the Sherwood Forest. In "Captain's Holiday" I got a kick out of Picard trying to just read on vacation without distractions.

I believe you're thinking of "QPid." "Deja Q" is the one where Q temporarily lost his powers and begs Picard to let him join the crew. :techman:

I've been watching TOS in order, and I just got to "I, Mudd." I don't think I've ever laughed so much at a Star Trek episode. That really surprised me, because TOS isn't my favorite series, and I hated "Mudd's Women". But "I, Mudd" was hilarious.

So, my question is... Which episode do you think is the all-time funniest? Or tell us your funniest for each series.

I just watched "I, Mudd" last night, and I have to agree. Whenever I need to confound someone, I can just remember that "logic is a pretty wreath of flowers that smells bad." :rommie:

I love "I, Mudd" - even more than I love "Trouble with Tribbles," which is a lot.

But there are some other really funny ones - "Deja Q," for example, is a big fav of mine, as is "Trials and Tribble-ations."

I thought my stepfather was going to have a stroke when we watched that a few months ago. It's always very scary when anything makes that man laugh.

I second the vote for "Fascination". I was really surprised when I started posting here to discover that many people really dislike that episode. My favourite part is Quark hitting on Keiko and rubbing his ear against her right at the end, even though the implications of that are a bit disturbing when you consider what an androgenous zone that is for Ferengi.

I also second the hate for "Plato's Stepchildren", which I agree is more cringe-inducing than funny. That horse stuff was just embarassing to watch. I can't believe I forgot to mention "Deja Q"...one of my top 5 episodes! There are so many hilarious parts of that episode, Q's interaction with just about every crewmember is brilliantly funny, especially with Worf at the beginning ("The Boy who Cried Worf", "Eat any books lately?, "DIE"), but just as funny is Geordi telling him to shut up, Guinan getting off on his helplessness, and Crusher gently mocking him for his back pain and hunger. :)

Picard's refusual to believe Q and complete lack of compassion for him is a riot too. I especially love when Q tells him how depressed he is and how he "can't go on like this" and Picard's only reaction is to sip his tea casually as Q walks away. Saying he's going to stop Q from suicide because "it's a perfectly good shuttlecraft" cracks me up as well. Picard's anger at the marachi band was also priceless. The fact that there's actually a rather poignant plot line about Data showing Q what it means to be human and selfless amongst all the hilarity is what makes it such a great episode.

All the Q episodes, if not funny from start to finish have some of the funniest moments in all of TNG within, like "they're carving us up like a roast" and "I NEED you!" in "Q Who", Crusher temporarily being turned into a dog in "True Q", and "John Luck Pickurd" in "Tapestry". :)

"Hollow Pursuits" is a very effective comedic episode. Gotta love Barclay's fantasy Troi and Riker and how the real deals react to seeing them. Barclay freaking out when Troi tries to help him relax is cute, and Picard calling him "Broccoli" by accident is a nice rare moment of ineptitude for the usually very eloquent and smooth Captain too. Data's confusion at the nickname always makes me smile.

I agree that Plato's Stepchildren was painful and embarrassing to watch... And that is exactly how I feel about Fascination. It was embarrassing. I was embarrassed for the characters acting completely ludicrous and out of character, but most of all, I was embarrassed for the show. I thought it was better than that.

I havent watched Plato's Stepchildren in quite a while. For the life of me i cannot even remember what it is about.

I have to add my two cents for Shore Leave, Trouble with Tribbles, A Piece of the Action, I Mudd.

I also love the little bits thrown into TNG episodes where Data says something completely out of left field, like, "Baby needs a new pair of shoes" in the 2nd season's The Royale. Mind you, the rest of the episode isnt funny, but Data's little one-liners kill me everytime. Even in "In Theory" he just cracks me up.

I alwasy thought VGR's Blood Fever was quite funny. It's such a manic episode. I love it.

That was funny in parts. The look on Chakotay's face when he was deciding whether to let B'Elanna and Vorik beat the crap out of each other was priceless. I laughed for days, every time I thought of it. And poor tortured Tom Paris ... and Tuvok, urging him to "help" B'Elanna.

Then there was the holodeck, with Vorik looking pervy and HoloVulcanBabe looking willing. Actually, all the Vulcan stuff was funny -- their total discomfort with the situation, the Doctor's complete lack of sympathy for their desire for secrecy ... yeah, I agree, Blood Fever was a funny episode.

DS9 had a lot of very funny ones as has already been mentioned by numerous people.

Intentionally funny, or funny because it's so bad?

Intentionally: I, Mudd or Trouble With Tribbles.

Funny Because It's So Bad: And The Children Shall Lead or Spock's Brain.

I'd put DS9's "Little Green Men" on a list of funniest episodes.

DS9 had some very funny episodes, mainly centred around the Ferengi in the show. Not sure which would be my favourite but the ones that come to mind would be "The Ascent", "The Magnificent Ferengi", "Little Green Men", "Who Mourns for Morn?"

Apart from the obvious comedy episodes I did find that DS9 used humour the best out of the various series.

Agreed. Little Green Men is absolutely fantastic, as are the others. The part where they are tapping the ears always cracks me up.

And the Voyager episode where Doctor day dreams and uses the photonic cannon and the ECH :rommie:

This one is great!! The whole mimicry part keeps me in tears, and they ALL have cigarettes! Constantly! The whole 1940's bad sci-fi vibe was really well done. I'm sure they had a blast making that one! :guffaw:

I just watched Body Parts. It has one of the best lines in history!

Bashir tells Quark that Dr. Orpaks told him he doesn't have the Dorik syndrome
Quark: You know what that means, Rom?
Rom: It means you're gonna live!
Quark: :gasp: It means I can just sue Dr.Orpaks for MALPRACTICE!!!!! And I'm gonna live...

hahahah
