I've met a few folks from here, made friends with a couple of 'em, lost touch with most, and was really squeezed out by one in particular. Not really goin' out of my way to meet folks, but if they want to meet me, more power to 'em, I suppose.
Especially if they pay for dinner, like auntiehill.

I haven't been around here long enough for anything to have come up, but if the circumstances were aligned for closer contact with anyone here, I wouldn't be opposed to it. I spent half my adolescence on the internet and I fought in the trenches of cancellation with fellow Save Farscape campaigners for plenty of time, getting to know some of them pretty well.
I also got involved in roleplaying on a few sites as a writing exercise, got to know several people from on particular site very well, traveled across the country for two years getting to meet those people, and I'm engaged to be married with one of them, who is currently asleep beside me. We've been together for quite some time.
To say the least, I think nothing of the topic at hand here. I still have some friends I met IRL, of course, but I've drifted away from a few over the years. You see, some of them are just too damn different for me and, growing up, I hung out with them because they were the best of more limited choices, even if they got me into all kinds of unneeded trouble... to put it lightly. As I've gotten older, I've gotten away from those sorts for good.

I've met someone from this board but nothing to do with this or any board. Scotland's a small country and at the time we didn't know each other was a member.
Spookily enough I have a couple I know from another board (who met on the board and subsequently got married) coming to stay with me tomorrow night.
I'm going down to London for a meet-up with a load of other people from the same board (now sadly defunct) in October. A medieval banquet is one of the activities, forsooth.

Absolutely, I will give you a head's up. Sadly, The Hubby is heading down next week, but I have to stay home for work (and the doggies.) But, we get down there not infrequently, and I occasionally get down your way for work.

We should meet up some weekend and have a doggie get together. My wife is knee deep in preparing her research plan for her applications for professor's positions coming up soon, so the less the dogs and I are around on the weekends, the better.
I just need to explain to her why I want to hang out with someone with...ahem...preferences like you. You know, I'm just afraid she'd think something was up if I told her I was friends with a lawyer.

I would sincerely love a puppy play date! I want to make that happen very soon. Probably have to be in the fall, though, unfortunately, as I'm having knee surgery in a couple weeks and will be out of commission for awhile (and am booked solid until then.) But, seriously, we've gotta do it!

TM, you have an actual date for the surgery now?
I use to be on another board daily (a doll collector board), but haven't been there in ages (simply not enough hours in the day). But i made some amazing awesome friends there and MANY of us fly from all over the country to get together yearly, at the yearly convention or at each other's houses. Some of my dearest friends are people i met online.

Smoothie, torn medial miniscus. Arthroscopic surgery, so recovery should be relatively fast, though it will depend on whether he does a repair or just cuts out the bad stuff (which the doc said he won't know for sure until he's in there.) Unfortunately, he specifically said I have to be careful "tramping through the woods with the dogs" for awhile. I'm just glad to finally know why it's been "flaring up" for the last 18 months and, hopefully, to have it fixed.
Randi, yup, Tuesday 8/31. Then working from home the rest of the week, have the long holiday weekend to (hopefully) fully recuperate, and back to the office on the 6th.

Nothing set, I've discussed going in the spring maybe with a mate of mine. But even if that doesn't happen I will need to go in the next year or so, I feel the need for some travelling!
