Friendship Outside of the BBS

While we were drinking and posing for photos, HubbyInLOCA was off to the left chatting with some English guy who turned out to be David Lloyd, the artist of Alan Moore's "V for Vendetta." I love WorldCons!

In that group shot, is everyone there from the BBS? Can you put names to the faces? I do see DoubleOh and Shameless and YOU of course, right? Who else?

Correct. That was a fun trip/weekend and largely responsible for my decision to move to L.A. when I did. (I'm fairly certain the following Monday I turned in my two-week's notice at my job ) But I still like this photo better, though I can't figure out why:

Oh my god... that picture.

I'm fortunate enough to have met some of my best friends on this BBS. RedFenix, 005, jkladis, TheLeafman and IndySolo--I don't know what my life would be like without these awesome folks, and I don't want to ever have to find out. I've met a bunch of other great people here, some of whom I'm very close to and others who I see now and then. Overall, meeting people from this board has been a great experience for me. I'm lucky to call so many BBSers friends!

Can't really add to this, since you've seen me in recent pictures with that same group.

Actually, though, I think it's funny. People that I met way back when, that were on here, I consider to be great friends (even if I don't get to see them often). I don't hang out here often anymore, but because of social media, am able to keep in close contact with a lot of them. In fact, I'd say our 'relationship' moved well beyond TrekBBS years ago. That's just how I met them, and I don't even associate them with this place anymore. (That goes for the SoCal locals, and the non-SoCal'ers, like TorontoTrekker among others).

I have to agree with Top41 (which I actually had to look back at her screen name just now, because I *never* think of her as 'Top41' but by her real name). These people are awesome, and I love that they are in my life.
