Fridays without Discovery

Yeah - I'm feeling the urge to start at Broken Bow and go through all of Trek now, since season 3 will be set long afterwards...

Someone said that The 100 was due to air again soon
That's the only new series I've watched faithfully these last few years apart from Discovery
Not that it's perfect Sci Fi, or great unmissable storytelling, it's just that I've watched it since Season 1 Episode 1, and I'll be well pissed off if I miss any impending finale.
I like it, but scoff at it at the same time, but I just have to keep watching.
Duh, it's not like I'm a teenager or anything.

I still haven’t finished VGR, so there is that if I feel like watching Trek for canon, but today it’s Killing Eve and Game of Thrones S5 (rewatch), maybe a bit more of The Wire, then more Breaking Bad (second run), Game of Thrones S8 (Monday morning local time). The Orville is only for people who need those trekkish tropes on their menu, rather than Star Trek itself or quality whatever the format or genre.

I recently watched Enterprise from the start to the end of Season 2, when they went into The Expanse.
But I put it on the back burner for new Discovery.

I like this idea. Maybe we can schedule it to start 30 weeks before season 3 so we can neatly transition our 1 ep per week thing into the next season?

We might have to guestimate, because they probably won't reveal the season premiere date seven months ahead of time. Then we can figure out how to speed it up or pad it out if the guess turns out to be wrong.

If the Picard Series starts in December, and that's 10 weeks, I'm guessing that goes until February or early-March. Figure possibly a month hiatus, give or take, and the third season might not actually premiere until April 2020.

First Friday night in a while with no new Episode to look forward to.

I'm going to have to start at Season 1 Episode 1 again for the fix

It may not be perfect, or even a bit flawed, but I already miss our time travelling heroes

Just find another show to obsess over the next year. Pretty simple in today's entertainment landscape...

I think I will go way back and re-watch Farscape.

Now that's a rewatch what is a rewatch. I think I'll join you.

I finally got S5 of Orphan Black on blu-ray not long ago, so there's a shorter but much more action packed rewatch.

One day soon there will be constant Star Trek. Whether it's Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Section 31, Nick Trek or maybe even Starfleet Academy, Khan or PikeSpockterprise.

These will be the good old days when we had time to breathe:lol:

I'm not really looking forward to wall-to-wall Trek. Makes it seem less special and more like a fast food franchise. McTrek.

where are the 2 new Short Treks that were supposed to come after Discovery season 2? If not any time soon then goodbye CBS AA for now.

Game of Thrones coming to an end will be a huge distraction for the next few weeks. And I am really looking forward to the Picard series.

It's like the Marvel universe. A lot of their television content feels like they're fulfilling a contractual obligation rather than telling a story for the story's sake. I hate the thought that there might be entire Star Trek series' that'll be as skippable and generic as Iron Fist.

I'm hoping we get enough good content in the next few years to tide us over when the inevitable crash occurs.

I hate the thought that we'll get series as generic and skippable as much of TNG and Voyager.

For now it looks like they're going with distinct ideas and short seasons, which should avoid that.

Hopefully there will be enough content that we can watch what we enjoy and skip what we don't without feeling bereft of Trek content.

I have "must-see" notebook like one that Captain America had in The Winter Soldier  In the list now is TNG, Hell on wheels, and I want to watch TOS and Galaxy Quest again. Waiting Good Omens and The Highwaymen.
We should do an Official Forum Rewatch from "The Vulcan Hello" to "Such Sweet Sorrow". One week at a time. I'll host it.

Is anyone else up for this and who's in?
I'm ready :techman:
Actually I want to re-watch it from 1x03. But in a good company... let it start from the beginning.

It would be interesting to see how people review each episode again, after a brief respite
Maybe some shows considered a bit meh, would be reassigned as very decent
Looking forward to it

It's really interesting.
Yesterday I watched screencaps from 1x03. Never before paid attention on a guy with a black badge on "Discovery"...

I just began watching Voyager for the first time (3 episodes in), so I still have lots to to watch at. I'm also rewatching TNG with my girlfriend, so I have that going for me, too. And after Voyager, there's still Enterprise before I can even watch Discovery's first season.

So yeah, I'm fine.
