Friday & Weekend Numbers - $2.5M/$8.5M

The overseas numbers are shit.

Great for Star Trek, yes, but in every other way they are shit for a $150 million hollywood movie with perhaps another $100 million spent on worldwide marketing.

Paramount have apparently commented to Anthony at TrekMovie that they have already been making a profit from the film for some time now. So they've made their money already.

It will have to improve big time for the next one.
I agree.

Apparent flops like Terminator Salvation and Wolverine will probably make more money than this movie worldwide. That sucks.
Wolverine already has, same with Angels and Demons. Terminator isn't doing so hot overseas though with only $25 Million reportedly.

Terminator is only just opening worldwide this week, it made $25 from a few Asian countries. If it makes $250 million overseas, which is likely, then it is going to challenge Trek for total WW take.

I wasn't aware that Paramount contacted Trekmovie and said that, its good to know :)

Honestly don't think they care. Yes, I am sure that they'd love better numbers and would like a better strategy to get more money worldwide. But, they went into this movie expecting mediocre (not "shit") international numbers and I am sure their projections took that into consideration. They probably had already expected to ride the success in the US and anything that was an improvement overseas would be welcome success. Besides compared to many of the other ST movies it is doing quite well.

Ok ok, I am sorry...

They aren't shit, just underwhelming and I hope Paramount have a plan to double the overseas numbers :)

They will probably look at ways of improving the international box office in the next film, it has done relatively well in the English speaking countries and some European ones. Wolverine destroyed it in a lot of other markets though. From what I understand though, Paramount only get a small portion of overseas box office which is why domestic totals are the most important.

The problem for this franchise is that it got a free pass this time because ST was a JJ Abrams film, not because it was Trek. Now, the critics and the public will expect The Dark Knight, and Abrams, Lindelof, Orci, Kurtzman and the whole gang will have to reach down deep inside themselves to produce that good a movie that will be both a summer blockbuster and a good flick at the same time.

Good numbers - still.

And I saw a trailer for LotL when I was in the theatre for Star Trek. Looked like a stupid guy movie - and a bad one at that.

Hannover isn't all that great, but it's got public transport, paths, cinemas, shops, the works.

Hey my dad was born in Hannover, West Germany! :p

If I can find someone to go to see Star Trek with again, I'm going. I hope it continues to do well. I'm really hoping we do $250.

Um, They already have made a Good Film and a Summer Blockbuster at the same time. Doesn't really matter if you don't agree, critics, fans and the Box Office all agree.

I think Star Trek can break $250 million mark. The next week is big. If Star Trek can get approx: 1 million per day from Monday to Thursday and $4-5 million next weekend, total cume $ 231-2 million.

Star Trek has been a good summer blockbuster movie but as a good film is all matter of taste. Some critics(Roger Ebert) and fans don't like Star Trek that much.

I could care less what Ebert (or any critic) thinks, frankly. I enjoyed the movie, and can't wait for the next one to come out.
