The troble started long before Applebees. Daddy McCoy is the over the top stage mom. he wanted his son on a premier prep program and Dillon was it. However unless his son was the star and treated as such then he wasn't happy.

Dillon will crash and burn next year when the team is ignored and all attention focuses on JD throwing the ball. The one dimensional game plan the McCoy's hired gun coach will bring does not work . The booster will rebel and come crawling back to Coach Taylor.

I just hope he tells them to stuff it.

One thing I was a little confused about, I thought that splitting off into another district was a new thing, something that just occurred. So how did they already have a stadium (such as it was) at the E Dillon HS?

Does anyone know how much footage was cut from the episodes for air on NBC? I know the DirecTV airings were longer, and I wonder if any important scenes were cut for time. I'd like to think that the extended versions would make it onto DVD, but these studios tend to be pretty stupid about these types of things.

There were two high schools in Dillon that were combined into one, that's now being split up into two again. When they were first talking about it, someone mentioned the horrible state of East Dillon's building.

I just can't believe Tyra likes landry. He is just so ugly.

There are some women who even young appreciate quality of character over looks.

Took Tyra awhile to come to that, but you know, when you've been treated like dirt by the pretty boys, after awhile you learn.

Thanks, I missed that part of the discussion.

This was an easy Excellent for me. I really liked the "five months later" aspect, since the end of the school year is something we've never seen on this show. Funny how a show like this can skip over a large period of time but it's not a huge WTF twist...pretty much the opposite effect that BSG's "Lay Down Your Burdens" caused around here.

This season has been superb all the way through. The exiting arcs for Smash and Street were really touching, Riggins evolved past the dumb jock stereotype (mostly,) Saracen and Julie together was great once again, and as usual they put Eric through the ringer. I started out thinking J.D. was a boring character, but the actor and the writing really sold his arc this year.

I'm definitely looking forward to next season, and really surprised/happy that they have two more years left. The idea of splitting the district and sending Eric to the rundown school while the boosters steal all the best players is brilliant and should make for some excellent stories, along with more Taylors v. McCoys/Wade Aikman. All in all, FNL has completely redeemed itself after the disappointing 2 season let-down. I'm glad the writers not only figured out what they were doing wrong, but actually fixed it and came out on top once again. *cough*Heroes*cough* ;)

Since coach knows about the boosters plan to gerrymander the district, it would be interesting if he could use that to info to stop it. Then as a truly fun twist - JD is in his district.

it would be fun to see coach try to rig the district for himself, but no way are the McCoys going to be slumming it in East Dillon...

i really like this twist with East Dillon, it'll be interesting. We get a new cast of kids instead of following around everyone now that they are in college. Too many shows about highschool make the mistake of keeping everyone in town or going to the same college in the same town (Veronica Mars/Buffy). Hopefully FNL will bring in a new cast and run with it, rather than remake the old cast... "Rim Tiggins: the tough jock who drinks, has dad problems, but a heart of gold." "Crash Johnson: the loudmouth star player." "Myra Garlette: head cheerleader in love with the star Quarterback, James Rhode."

   If they do end up making cheap knockoffs of the original characters, by using your template it will be PERFECT. :techman:

That reminds me though, the one thing about this season that was off from the start was the idea than Riggins, Lyla, and Tyra were now seniors. I thought the idea was that they were all juniors in the first season. Meanwhile, I thought Landry and Julie were supposed to start as sophomores, but now it looks like a freshman Landry was actually driving a year-older-than-him Matt around town.

The only characters that really had set ages that they stuck from the first season on were sophomore Matt, junior Smash, and senior Street. I get the feeling they fudged the numbers with the other high school characters' ages to keep them around a bit longer...I wonder if the writers had planned to have some of them graduate and move on in the cut-short season 2, but when the strike happened they decided with a wave of the hand to retroactively make them younger than we thought. Anyways, I guess it really doesn't matter because the stories were still awesome...but re-watching season 1 is a bit weird keeping in mind how old we now know the characters are supposed to be.

I always got the impression that Riggins, Tyra, and Lyla were all seniors during the first season. That's still how I look at it. Landry and Julie were definitely sophomores though in Season 1 and Landry was driving Matt in season 1.

I imagine the new players will be juniors so they can do a two-year arc.
