Another fantastic episode. This season has been great so far and has returned to its Season 3 form.

One of the things that has returned is the Devil Town concept and that football is king. Last season, they tried to get away from football. A great example was that episode that began with the Panthers losing 37-0 and nobody, not the town, not Smash, gave a shit. The Devil Town has returned and are making their (stupid) presence felt again. Garrity's back to scheming. Even Mac us giving the coach a hard time.

I do think it was ridiculous that people are talking about replacing Matt after the Panthers won the first two games and put up almost 90 points. With JD, a skinny freshman with one garbage time TD. He wouldn't have withstood the beating Matt took and Matt busted his ass of tonight. That last scene where he fumbled the ball at the end zone was just crushing. Pretty brilliant too.

I've often said Matt was the most realistic teenager on television, even despite some of the Season 2 stupidity. I also have to throw a bone to Billy Riggins. He is a realistic character too. A big shot in high school, he's now a guy who is incapable of holding a job and resorts to crime in an effort to get ahead. He's really not a bad man but he's one of those guys whose just not going to make it in life. Like Matt, he is a realistic character.

Another Average. but it was still enjoyable. Matt is awesome, he tried so hard. I still can't get over how much older Julie looks now. Landry was awesome in his brief scene. I'm still curious as to where Santiago went... as for Lyla... i cant believe she laughed at the vows... sure they were lame (even tyra rolled her eyes when looking away) but you think lyla would know better... oh well...

i wish more people watched this show... i think this is the last season though. i thought i read the head writer is working on a pilot for another show (a remake of Parenthood).

Devil town? I call it Loserville -- people who have nothing else going for them other than a high school football team they probably don't even have kids playing on. It's like that guy from season one after the first loss who was showing off his state championship ring at the fast food restaurant -- even though it was obvious that's where his life peaked and he has nothing else to look forward to in life.

Although you if substitute football for Star Trek, you'll find several of those Devil Town inhabitants right here on the BBS.

I don't have DirecTV so I don't know where the season is going, but McCoy will either turn out to be Matt's biggest ally, or crumble under all these high expectations and father trying to live vicariously through him and become another Todd Marinovich.

And did it seem like McCoy's dad was paying off the refs to look the other way when Matt was getting smashed?

Also, if someone quoted Finding Nemo for wedding vows, wouldn't you laugh too?

loserville works as well, though the devil town is in reference to the song played at the end of season 1. (one of my favorite final scenes from television).

outside of the taylors you ocassionally see a couple people realize how messed up dilllon is. Tyra had been very vocal about it during season 1, Lyla also was vocal about it at points... Landry as well. it's very sad... but honestly i love it. the town is the villain of the show in a way.

as for using nemo for wedding vows, i may laugh. i dont know the movie well enough to pick out quotes... but i think i'd stifle my laughter based on the mood in the room. mindy was sincere, and it was moving for her, the mom and billy... i dont think i would try to upset the folks there by laughing in their face. when they leave, maybe... or i'd roll my eyes and leave it at that.
