Free Star Trek eBook by S&S (US only) and return of Strange New Worlds

Re: Free Star Trek eBook by S&S (US only) and return of Strange New Wo

I agree with all those above who are confused about various provisions in the contest rules. They are not a model of clarity. But I post here the email address for anyone who wants to contact them. They actually do respond and will clarify the rules (at least somewhat):

strangenewworlds@archwaypublishing.com

I got mine in early in the month. But I sure was stressed in December, trying to get the story "perfect." Didn't need that stress on top of the extra that comes with the holidays.

Now we wait!

I know at least one other who did that. I can't live that way. I'd have a heart attack or my first ever panic attack, LOL. I tend to do things early so as to not stress. I was late doing most of it in December. Should have done it in October/Nov at the latest.

It wasn't my plan originally to wait to the last minute, but family, work, health, and assorted drama (not to mention the holidays) got in the way. And, yes, I did think I was well on my way to my first heart attack, LOL!

Good luck to everyone who submitted!

Well, as I post this, it's zero dark thirty Wednesday morning, so we should all be getting our "published" or "not published" emails tomorrow.

Today, the 31st, was the day we were supposed to get our contest response letters. Did anybody get theirs today? I didn't.

I didn't hear anything, but am not really expecting to win, so wasn't surprised. Hang tight - if you got in, they'll let you know, I'm sure!

I'm just saying that in the past contest, we got a letter whether we were getting published or not. If we weren't getting published, we got a form letter saying that we made the second read pile or the alternates, or we were told if we didn't follow the contest rules, or that the story didn't interest the slush puppies enough to merit reading all the way through. All in all, in the past contest, everybody who entered got at least something in the mail along with their returned manuscript.

The three (including myself) that entered heard nothing. So either they're late, or, more likely, we didn't make it in. But the rules DID say "on or about," so there is wiggle room.

We won't get a form letter or feedback (which is not the normal process anyhow, I understand). If you don't make it in, you'll know when a winners list is posted or when people who did win talk about it (if they can before a list goes up.)

Yeah, the waiting/anxiety sucks!

As Dean used to always advise during the old SNW, better to keep so busy writing other stuff you don't have time to worry about the contest announcement date! :)

Well as of an hour ago, no one was notified/no winners were announced yet according to Dayton Ward over on FB, so there is still hope, peoples!

Cross those fingers!

Yeah, I know it's not the normal process, but it would be nice to hear that our submissions didn't disappear down a black hole, at least.

Don't despair yet, Lorraine. No news does not necessarily equal disappointing news. And above all, keep writing!
