Frasier revival

Definitely the best episode yet and not just because of the mighty return of Lilith.

Okay, she played a big part of it.

But I really do think the show is firing on all cylinders right now. As I mentioned before, it has successfully found the right balance between snobby humor and emotional tenderness. This is no more evident than the always wonderfully thorny relationship between Frasier and Lilith. If they aren't tearing each other down, they're wildly intimate (as wild as an ice queen can be). Even though I knew how the final scene would play out, beat for beat, it was still immensely fun to watch play out.

And yet, we got another level of ridiculous humor this episode: All things Alan, between his absurd white outfit to his desperately failed efforts to get Lilith to remember him...right until it was time for him to go for find his wallet in his car. All of the comparisons were spot on, but I also thought the Jurassic Park line was the best one, precisely because it came from Lilith.

This has sated my Lilith lust for now...but I look forward to her inevitable return.

Jack Cutmore-Scott might actually be underrated. And he's English?

American TV audiences probably last saw him in Deception, where they took math professor/mentalist/author/con artist/immortal medical examiner/Devil crime-solving consultant and added magician.

Is this the first time we've seen Alan's cat? I recall it being mentioned, starting with the first episode.

My last trip through the original Frasier, I came to the conclusion, by the end, that Frasier and Lilith had grown into the other's OTP. I think it's the last Lilith episode that sold me on them an an OTP, where they've been set up as blind dates with each other by a mutual friend, but they believe instead that they've both been ditched by their blind dates, and they fell into a really comfortable evening together. If Frasier had ended with Lilith instead of Laura Linney, I'd have been just fine with that.

Can I take it that “The Man from Del Monte” advertisements for orange juice were never a thing in America, because, certainly in Ireland, any time anyone rocks up in a linen or white suit, that’s what gets thrown at them? (Featured a guy dressed like that who samples the oranges and only gives approval to the very best oranges) I was waiting for someone to say this to Alan but it never happened. (Having checked out one of the ads, he doesn’t seem to have had a fedora)

Anyway, always been a massive fan of Lilith/Bebe and fortunately this delivered. She and Kelsey retain the chemistry after all these years. It can be a sign of desperation when a show brings back old characters like that, especially so soon, but it totally made sense in terms of their location and relationship here. I’d love to see her as a recurring character.

I'm surely in the minority who thought "It's the White Guardian! Now Frasier and Lilith have to find the Key to Time!"

Did it say in Cheers where they got married? I remember the bachelor party where Frasier got into a "fight" with Cliff over insulting Lilith. They wrote out a list of rules for the fight so extensive that Cliff got writer's cramp. "Let that be a lesson to you!" declared Frasier.

Agreed completely. I've always loved their relationship over the years and across shows. I, too, would've been fine if Frasier had ended with Frasier and Lilith together.

...although I did love that one episode where Frasier was on a road trip with imaginary Lilith and Diane riding along with him while he was agonizing about another partner (I want to say Jean Smart's character). Proof that Frasier could never be content.

I'm embarrassed that I didn't even think of that one! I'm not surprised he wasn't mentioned in this episode since classic Doctor Who is rather niche, even the Tom Baker era.

Doing a rewatch of Cheers...not sure I should call it a rewatch as I didn't follow it closely until late in its run tho...especially since it came out when I was three. Frasier's first appearance won't be for other two seasons. Norm went nuts over a woman's legs and the pool table room looks a bit different from what I remember.
